So far 18 people have completed a map and added their comments for the Route 30 Implementation Plan. In this map, entitled "30 Hope," the commenter stressed the need for a community swimming pool and cried out for attractive architecture and landscaping at the east and west gateways into town.

The issues raised were eyesores along the route, too much asphalt and not enough fine dining choices.

Below are some of the commenter's suggestions, and you can view the interactive map of this vision here

  • Multifamily uses along the corridor are desirable near the Metra Railroad Station along with the installation of sidewalks.
  • Auto Oriented Development in the 300 block of W. Route 30: This area is unattractive and serves the auto at the expense of pedestrians and community appearance. Redevelopment with street fronting buildings would be possible with enhanced pedestrian access to transit.
  • Community Appearance: Buildings along the corridor should display high quality construction materials with more limited signature features - not buildings that are so characteristic that they are entirely advertisement.
  • Used Car Sales at Cedar Road and Route 30: The sale of used cars in commercial parking lots is undesirable. The four quadrants should be attractive.
  • Cohesive Plan: The four quadrants of the Cedar Rd/Rt 30 intersection need to be planned for a cohesive appearance.
  • Left Turns, Striping: This could provide for left turns at this intersection. Oak Street would work as an alternate if left turns were prohibited here.
  • Many Driveways: Also at Oak Street, redevelopment should provide for interconnected rear access to side streets to minimize the number of driveways accessing Route 30.
  • Pedestrian Connections: Provide wide sidewalks on both sides of Route 30 to make best use of the rail transit stop and make walking a viable means of transportation.
  • Bicycle Safety: Even with the trail, bicycles originating or ending their trips in the corridor deserve to be safe and according to law are entitled to road access. For their safety, bicycle parking, education and signage should be provided.
