Cupcake Artistry Captures Attention With Skills and Smiles

Cupcake Crazy in New Lenox is owned by Sherri Van Etten.

A lifelong interest in crafting baked goods is the key ingredient to Cupcake Crazy, a new at-home business. Sherri Van Etten has made cupcake creations an art form.

Having opened her at-home business only three months ago, word of her expertise has spread throughout the Lincoln-Way communities. A New Lenox-based business, she brings to the table a masterful gift for custom recipes that are 100 percent homemade. There are no short cuts, and that’s evident in the taste.

The 39-year-old baked goods artist has been honing her skills for whipping up sweet batters since she was 8 years old. Having lived in the Lincoln-Way region her whole life, she serves up an extra sense of community to each project. It’s those people skills—the ability to share the happy moments with customers that comes across with a genuine smile.

The cupcakes come in a variety of flavors, including gluten-free recipes. But the frosting on the cake is Van Etten’s flair for decorating. She can craft everything from a floral bouquet to a Blackhawks logo. She offers party themes and satisfies a business’ need for a unique desert for a special conference.
