Police Blotter: Video Game Theft at Walmart, More

New Lenox police reports, Aug. 17-19.

SATURDAY, AUG. 18 Suspended License Jose Huerta, 40, of Joliet, was stopped in his vehicle after police conducted a random registration check in the 1800 block of West Route 30. Huerta was ticketed for driving on a suspended license. FRIDAY, AUG. 17 Walmart Theft Gene Wells, 18, of Joliet, was charged with retail theft after a complaint was filed by Walmart officials. Police say the store's security system was activated when Wells approached the door. Security personnel say they discovered he had $200 worth of video games that had not been paid for. Wells posted bond and was released. Trespass to Vehicle Police say a trespass to vehicle complaint was filed after a man in Rossford Lane noticed that someone had entered his car, rummaged …

THURSDAY, AUG. 16 House burglar nets laptop and cell phone Police were called to the 1800 block of Cornell Drive when the owner discovered a laptop and cell phone were stolen from the house. Police are investigating. Groceries stolen from Walmart Walmart officials filed a retail theft complaint. According the report, someone left the store located in the 500 block of East Route 30 without paying for groceries. Car burglary Police say a report was filed indicating that someone broke into a vehicle parked in the 800 block of Bristol Lane and stole about $100. The vehicle was unlocked. SATURDAY, AUG. 11 Retail Theft Police were called to Walmart, where officials say someone left the store without paying for approximately $30 worth of merchandise. The incident is under investigation. FRIDAY, AUG. 10 Driving on a Suspended License Donald Durnavich, 46, of South Chicago Heights, was stopped in his vehicle after police noticed an out-dated registration sticker. He was driving in the area of Joliet Highway and Bon Terre Road. When he was pulled over, police discovered that he was driving on a suspended license. He was ticketed for not have a valid registration, driving on a suspended license and for operating an uninsured vehicle and released. WEDNESDAY, AUG. 8 Citations issued Jennifer Montanes, 30, of Joliet, was stopped for speeding in the 1800 block of Route 30. Police say they discovered that she was also driving on a suspended license. She was issued tickets and released. Fence damaged Someone damaged a portion of a fence in the 2600 block of Barcoo Bend. TUESDAY, AUG. 7 Credit card fraud Police are investigating a case of credit card fraud. SATURDAY, JUNE 30 James Smith, 45, of the 200 block of Haven Avenue in New Lenox, was charged with retail theft. Police said Smith was trying to take $500 worth of tires from outside of Nation Tire & Battery in New Lenox. A customer alerted an NTB employee. Smith was taken to Will County Jail. Elizabeth McKeever, 46, of Manhattan, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and disobeying a police officer. Police said she drove over cones that were set up to direct traffic at Route 6 and Cedar Road at about 12:40 a.m. When police stopped her, they said they discovered she was driving under the influence. Police: Man Breaks Into Car, Heads to Target for Shopping

New Lenox police reports, April 23-26.

THURSDAY, APRIL 26 A car in the 2700 block of Foxwood Drive was damaged.  WEDNESDAY, APRIL 25 Someone called police at about 8:20 p.m. and said they saw a person break the window to a car in the 2400 block of East Joliet Highway and steal various items.  According to police, the offender drove from the scene and was followed by the caller. The offender went into the nearby Target to use a stolen credit card when police arrived. Donald Pearson, 27, of Dixmoor, was charged with burglary and booked in Will County jail. 'Gypsy Burglars' Charged in Walmart Theft

Three Chicago men were charged with burglary and drug possession Tuesday following an attempted theft at the Walmart in New Lenox. Police said their attempts were a form of "gypsy burglary."

Three Chicago men were charged with burglary and drug possession Tuesday following an attempted theft at the Walmart in New Lenox, police said. Ace L. Frank, 19; Jason L. Frank, 34; and Richard Frank, 33, all of the 3200 block of Pierce Avenue in Chicago, were booked in Will County Jail on a slew of charges. Deputy Chief Bob Pawlisz of the New Lenox Police Department said an officer was called to the New Lenox Walmart on Tuesday in response to suspects of a previous retail theft.  About a week and a half ago, three men worked together to distract Walmart employees while stealing various items, including an Xbox video game system and several phones.  "They came back yesterday and they were starting the same diversion tactics they use," …

THURSDAY, APRIL 12 Someone stole another person's scooter at Wildflower Park. The scooter was valued at about $60.  A mailbox was damaged at a home in the 18000 block of Spring Creek Street. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 11 Two cell phones valued at $500 total were stolen from Walmart. Barbara Barajas, 21, of the 100 block of Hickory Street in New Lenox, was ticketed for driving with a suspended license and no insurance after police randomly ran her plates near Wildwood Road and Joliet Highway.  TUESDAY, APRIL 10 Someone scratched a car parked in the Metra commuter lot at 300 N. Church St. A window was shattered on a building in the 100 block of Haines Street. A resident told police that someone used her banking information to withdraw about $1,275.  …

SATURDAY, APRIL 7 Someone stole dirt from a vacant lot in the 2000 block of Edgeview Drive.  FRIDAY, APRIL 6 Bruce Galassini, 42, of Tinley Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane use. Police responded to a car accident near Cedar Road and Route 6 and said they discovered Galassini had been drinking. Neither Galassini nor the driver of the other car were injured.  A resident told police someone used his credit card information to make about $1,600 in purchases.  Carol Conte, 32, of the 200 block of Woodlawn Road in New Lenox, and Krista Murray, 27, of the 300 block of Circlegate Road in New Lenox, were both charged with battery. THURSDAY, DEC. 29 Someone stole an Xbox valued at $199 from the Walmart in New Lenox. The window of a car parked in the 2000 block of Digby Road was damaged by an unknown person. WEDNESDAY, DEC. 28 A resident in the 800 block of Beech Road told police that a known offender was sending harassing text messages to the victim's cell phone. Someone damaged the driver's and passenger's side windows on a car parked in the 600 block of Southgate Road. Sean M. Doyle, 22, of the 1400 block of Corrie Lane in New Lenox, was charged with ignoring a stop sign and possession of drug equipment following a traffic stop at Joliet Highway and Wildwood Drive.
