New Lenox police said newly installed security cameras helped track down Brysen Bradberry, of Joliet, who is charged with residential and vehicle burglary. Police said he burglarized five cars and stole items from homes throughout the southwest suburbs.

The New Lenox lot has been a hub for criminal activity this year, so the village plans to purchase five surveillance cameras for about $30,000.
Many people who park in the New Lenox Metra lot have had a rough year. There's been a string of burglaries, cars damaged, parts stolen and even one car taken from the lot. To keep the lot from continuing as a hub for criminal activity, the village will purchase a surveillance system for $29,200. The system will have five cameras total, set up at three locations in the lot with enough range to view or zoom in on any point there. Deputy Chief Bob Pawlisz of the New Lenox Police Department has been researching options over the last few months, and he recommended this system by Current Technology. The cameras will be in waterproof cases and will transfer the data through a WiFi connection to a remote server. Footage will not be monitored at …

New Lenox could soon purchase security cameras for the Metra commuter lot, but isn't sure about whether it will increase the fee to park there.
Last week, police were called to the Metra commuter lot at 300 N. Church St. to investigate a car burglary. Someone shattered the driver's side window and stole electronics from the person who parked there. After searching the lot, police found seven other cars in the lot that had the windows smashed and items stolen. And later that night, a car was reported stolen. The Metra lot has been a hub for criminal activity this year, spurring the village to look at purchasing a security camera system. After recently attending the International Association of Chiefs of Police conference in Chicago, deputy chief Bob Pawlisz of the New Lenox Police Department said he was able to check out better options than the department was previously considering…

Following a string of car-part thefts in the Metra commuter lot in New Lenox, the village could buy a security camera system for about $14,000. During a public safety committee meeting last week, employees of the New Lenox Police Department met with village trustees to talk about the options and pricing for the cameras, which would serve as much of a purpose of making residents feel safe as they would to deter crime. "These cameras don’t catch criminals. We could hope to catch a license plate and get some good, solid information," Police Chief Bob Sterba said. "It would certainly have the added advantage of making the lot users feel more safe.” READ "Some Residents Question Metra Lot Security After String of Thefts" Sterba said the influx …

The village is considering an increase to the $1 daily fee charged to park in the Metra commuter lot off Route 30. It would help pay for various upgrades and most notably a security camera system that would aim to reduce ongoing car part thefts in the lot
Parking in New Lenox’s Metra lot could soon be a bit more expensive, but also possibly safer. The village is considering an increase to the $1 daily fee charged to park in the commuter lot off Route 30. It would help pay for various upgrades and most notably a security camera system that would aim to reduce ongoing car part thefts in the lot. The $1 fee charged by the village is expected to bring in about $226,000 this fiscal year, but the cost to maintain the lot is $261,551. Snow and ice control alone costs the village about $90,000 per year. Additionally, Mayor Tim Baldermann said New Lenox’s fee is on the low end compared to other stops along the Rock Island line. “I’m sure we’re going to have to increase the fee either way because it’…
