S. Marley Road Access onto Route 30 Closes Today

The intersection is being rebuilt as part of the Route 30 road construction project.

Starting Wednesday, Sept. 19, S. Marley Road will be closed at Route 30 as the state continues work on the massive road construction project through the villages of New Lenox, Mokena and Frankfort. New Lenox Village Engineer Will Nash said the intersection rebuild project is expected to take about a month to complete. In the meantime, a detour will be set up on Spencer Road, about a half-mile west of S. Marley Road. Once that's complete, said Nash, it should make driving pattern much smoother.

Railroad Improvements Shut Down Cedar Road This Week

As Canadian National works on railroad improvements in New Lenox, part of Cedar Road will be closed this week and Nelson Road will be closed part of next week.

Part of Cedar Road will be closed in New Lenox this week as Canadian National Railway works on improvements to the freight crossing. While the project is underway, Cedar Road between Illinois Highway and Laraway Road is closed. Detours are set up for all but local traffic through Friday, Aug. 10. Between Aug. 13-15, the railroad improvement project is slated to close a stretch along Nelson Road between Illinois Highway and Laraway Road. New Lenox Police said detours have been set up for all but local traffic. In December 2010, the Village Board approved a deal with Canadian National Railway that will give New Lenox quiet zones, landscaping and safety mechanisms for one of its rail lines at no cost.
