Party Invite Turns Into Fight Near Pit Stop

Men from New Lenox and Matteson were charged with aggravated battery after making a comment about a man's girlfriend and then fighting him, police said.

Two men were arrested and charged with aggravated battery after an early morning fight Monday in the 100 block of East Route 30, near the Pit Stop bar.  Joseph Strimel, 21, of the 800 block of Stonegate Road, in New Lenox, and 22-year-old Daniel Peterson, of Matteson, were charged after New Lenox Police were called about a fight.  According to the police report, two men and a woman were walking in the area at about 12:25 a.m. when Strimel and Peterson approached and asked them if they wanted to go to a party. When the walkers refused, police noted, Strimel allegedly said something about the woman. A fight ensued between her boyfriend and Strimel and Peterson, police said. The two men then fled the scene, but police were able to track them …

MONDAY, JULY 30 Car window broken Someone broke a car window in the 2300 block of Cattleman Drive.  SUNDAY, JULY 29 Criminal damage to vehicle Someone filed a complaint Sunday after discovering a broken window on a vehicle parked in the 1000 block of Shagbark Road.  Stolen bicycle A bicycle was stolen from the 600 block of Lisson Grove. The bicycle's value is unknown.  Traffic tickets issued Allison Lawrence, 27, of Macomb, was issued tickets for driving with a suspended license and for operating an uninsured vehicle. Police say she was stopped during a random registration check set up at Route 30 and Vine Street. Police Blotter: Aggravated Battery at the Village Commons

THURSDAY, JULY 26 Aggravated Battery Kyle Meier, 17, of the 2100 block of Morcambe Bay in New Lenox, was charged as an adult for aggravated battery in connection with an incident in the 100 block of Veterans Parkway.  According the police report, Meier claimed that he hit a man in retaliation to what he said was the man reaching out to hit a skateboard rider. Meier was taken into custody and brought to the Will County Jail, where he posted bond and was released. License Suspended Alejandro Barron, 20, of Joliet, was ticketed for driving while his license was suspended after a random registration check at Route 30 and Interstate 80. Police say he was also driving an uninsured vehicle. A second ticket was issued for that violation. Theft …

The Southland's major criminal and civil cases heard in Cook County and Will County courts this week. FRANKFORT — The Will County jailhouse will not be required to stop filming the private conversations of a man on trial for murder, but it will need permission before printing those videos again, a Will County judge ordered on Monday. Last year Brian Trainauskas, who was charged with first-degree murder and then solicitation of murder, alleged that a Will County sheriff’s deputy attacked him to force a confession. His attorney, George Andrews, said he became worried about their privacy when a subsequent internal affairs investigation produced a silent videotape of him and his client conversing over a laptop. 2 Booked in County Jail for Cocaine-Related Charges

Two New Lenox men were recently booked into Will County Jail on separate incidents involving the possession of cocaine.

Two New Lenox men were booked into Will County Jail this week for separate incidents involving the delivery and possession of cocaine. Dennis P. Baldauf, 40, of 100 block of Williams Street in New Lenox, was booked into Will County Jail on Nov. 1 after his bail was revoked. Court records show that he was charged with delivering between 1 and 15 grams of cocaine on April 1, 2010, and pleaded guilty Dec. 13, 2010. In another incident, a New Lenox teen was booked into the county jail Nov. 1 on a warrant for his arrest. Stephen T. Windle, 17, of the 700 block of South Cedar Road in New Lenox, was arrested Oct. 25, 2011 by New Lenox police and charged with possession of less than 15 grams of cocaine, a class 4 felony.
