County Board GOP Boss' Grandson Charged With Felony Theft: Source
The grandson of Will County Board Republican Chairman Jim Moustis was arrested on suspicion of stealing from his job, a source said.
A man arrested and accused of stealing thousands of dollars from his job at a cigarette wholesaler is the grandson of Will County Board Republican Chairman Jim Moustis, a source said. Nicholas Moustis, 23, of 21349 S. 80th Ave. in Frankfort, surrendered to the Mokena police on Friday and faces one count each of felony and misdemeanor theft. He posted $1,500 bail for his release. Mokena police Cmdr. Dan Rankovich said Nicholas Moustis stole more than $3,600 from his employer. The criminal complaint against Nicholas Moustis identified the victim of the theft as Mazher Khan. Khan, incidentally, has legal trouble of his own and is set to be sentenced in July—possibly to federal prison—for contraband cigarette trafficking. According to his …

Special Prosecutor Won't Prosecute Will County Board Member's Son
A special prosecutor brought in to try Will County Board member Steve Wilhelmi's son for battery dropped the case but is still going after two pals of the young man. The fathers of these two men are not on the county board.
When Will County Board member Steve Wilhelmi's son was first arrested for allegedly whipping a man with his belt, he only faced charges of misdemeanor battery and mob action. Then the mob action charge went away, and now he's charged with nothing. A special prosecutor called in to try Wilhelmi's 21-year-old son, Alex Wilhelmi of 1108 Taylor St., Joliet, dropped the case Thursday morning. But David Neal of the Special Prosecution Unit of the State’s Attorneys Appellate Prosecutor's office is still going after the two men arrested along with Alex Wilhelmi on July 1. Will County District 12 Board Members Ready to Stay the Course
Republicans Tom Weigel, New Lenox, and Margo McDermed, Mokena, were the top two vote-getters in the race for District 12 board members.
Tom Weigel, an eight-year veteran of the Will County Board, and the newly-elected Margo McDermed, said Wednesday that they are looking to stay the conservative spending course that the board has exercised. However, both agreed that attracting new business and infrastructure improvements will mark their efforts moving forward. Weigel, who chairs the County's Land Use and Development Committee along with the Forest Preserve Finance Committee, said the numbers revealed bipartisan support for the multiple projects he supported or ushered in over the last several years, such as conservation programs along with the identification of federal grant money, he said.
