The Village of New Lenox is fielding questions about potential occupancy.
It's been only four days since the popular Charley Horse Restaurant and Pub closed its doors suddenly on Feb. 4, but already the Village of New Lenox has had inquiries from similar businesses. Mayor Tim Baldermann, who was caught off-guard by the surprise closure, said Thursday that some people have expressed an interest in the building at 901 E. Lincoln Highway. The first question interested parties want to know about is the process for getting a liquor license. Liquor licenses are not transferable, he added. A fresh application is necessary for each new restaurant that wants to serve alcohol. There are currently two lanes of traffic in each direction along Route 30. Village Engineer Will Nash describes the current state of Route 30 construction.
VAs the Route 30 Construction Project continues to impact the lives of motorists , Village engineer Will Nash provides the latest news on traffic conditions through town. As of Nov. 15, he said: For the next couple weeks, gaps will be filled in by the contractor, said Nash. As a result, more cars will be able to stack at the light and move through the intersection. They plan to be completed with the concrete pavement at Retail Drive Friday. Early the week of Thanksgiving they will strip the intersection to allow the full intersection to be used. This should all be complete by the Thanksgiving shopping rush. According to Nash, the pavement should be placed by the end of next week and will be open early the week of Nov. 26 at the latest…

Anderson Road is now open, but Spencer Road will be closing soon.
Motorists are asked to be aware that the Route 30 construction project is continuing at a rapid pace. Village Engineer Will Nash highlighed the major projects at the moment: • Anderson Road is now open. • Spencer Road is scheduled to close on Monday to build the mainline pavement gap and the connection with Spencer Road. Spencer Road should be open in two weeks. • New concrete has been placed from the west end of the project to east of Bluestone Bay Drive. Motorists are asked to be aware that the contractor will be leaving gaps at the private driveways and side streets as required to allow access. New Lenox Village Engineer Will Nash provided the latest information on the ongoing Route 30 construction project, including updates on traffic patterns and road closures. At the moment, Anderson Road will remain closed until next week. The mainline pavement has been poured through the intersection. The contractor has installed the side street pavement except for the small area of surface asphalt. According to Nash, the plan calls for the installation of concrete for the east half of Retail Drive. Once the east side of the intersection is complete, they'll move onto the west side. New Lenox Village Engineer Will Nash offers a report of ongoing and upcoming traffic issues along Route 30 during the construction phase. According to Nash, the contractor is planning to place concrete pavement from west of Spencer Road to Schoolhouse Road this week. Motorists should know that the contractor will be leaving gaps at the private driveways and side streets as required to allow access. The contractor will also be placing new pavement through the west entrance to the strip mall across from Lincoln-Way Central High School. Road configuration is shifting west of Schoolhouse Road.
Motorists are asked to be aware that the Route 30 construction project is continuing at a rapid pace. Construction crews were out all weekend preparing for ongoing lane shifts. Village Engineer Will Nash highlighed the major projects at the moment: Once the east side of the intersection is complete traffic will be moved to the east allowing two lanes to exit the site and build the west side of the intersection. The contractor anticipates completing the entire intersection in about 8 weeks. This will provide a complete intersection prior to the holiday rush. The intersection is being rebuilt as part of the Route 30 road construction project.
Starting Wednesday, Sept. 19, S. Marley Road will be closed at Route 30 as the state continues work on the massive road construction project through the villages of New Lenox, Mokena and Frankfort. New Lenox Village Engineer Will Nash said the intersection rebuild project is expected to take about a month to complete. In the meantime, a detour will be set up on Spencer Road, about a half-mile west of S. Marley Road. Once that's complete, said Nash, it should make driving pattern much smoother.
