Police: DUI Charge Follows Car Accident

Police cite man for DUI and investigate fraud and criminal damage to property complaints.

FRIDAY, OCT. 12 Jeffrey Erikson, 37, of Mokena, was charged with driving under the influence and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after he rear-ended a northbound car on Cedar Road, police said. According to the report, Erikson's vehicle hit the rear of a car stopped and waiting to turn left from Cedar Road onto Route 30. Erikson then left the scene and drove home, police said. Having heard details of the the call in New Lenox, Mokena police tracked Erikson down at his home. Police determined he appeared to have been drinking and brought him to the Mokena Police Department. Man Punched in Face at American Legion; Police Blotter

DUI and retail theft wrap up police incidents.

SATURDAY, OCT. 6 James Hanley, 32, Joliet, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and driving without car insurance on Saturday at Cedar Road and Route 30. According to the report, an anonymous caller complaining about an intoxicated driver stirred the traffic stop. Hanley was stopped when police say they noticed him changing lanes without signaling and cutting off other drivers. He was ticketed and released. Police say staff at the Jewel in the 2000 block of Laraway Road reported that two men came in and attempted to return what appeared to be stolen merchandise. Floor Jack gets Lifted from Walmart; Police Blotter

SATURDAY, SEPT. 22 Floor Jack Stolen from Store Police say they were called to Walmart, in the 500 block of Route 30, on a complaint that someone walked out without paying for a floor jack. A complaint for retail theft was filed. Unlocked Car Becomes Easy Touch for Burglars Police say someone from the 1600 block of Edmonds Street filed a complaint of burglary  to a vehicle. According to the report, a backpack and purse were stolen from an unlocked car. THURSDAY, SEPT. 20 Walmart Security Stops Retail Thief Jalana Sutton, 26, of Chicago Heights, was charged with theft after she was stopped in the process of allegedly stealing about $60 worth of merchandise from Walmart in the 500 block of Route 30. Police say she posted $100 bond and was released. WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 19 GPS, Kindle Fire, I-Pod Nano and More Stolen from Cars Police say someone complained that burglars stole a CB radio and GPS from an unlocked vehicle in the 200 block of Jackson Branch. Duo of Drug Arrests in New Lenox

A Walmart pharmacy employee gets nabbed for attempting to fill a false prescription.

A Walmart pharmacy employee was arrested Sept. 20 in the 500 block of Route 30 and charged with delivery/possession with intent to deliver. According to Deputy Police Chief April DiSandro, Stephanie Lohenis, 28, of Crete, attempted to fill a false prescription for her husband. She allegedly attempted to obtain a prescription of Hydrocone by using another employee's log in number to process a verbal authorization for a prescription.  However, a staff member at the pharmacy discovered the fraud and refused to fill the order. Lohenis was charged with delivery/possession with intent to deliver. She posted bond and was released. THURSDAY, SEPT. 13 Window broken Police reported that someone broke a window at a home in the 1100 block of Pine Street. A criminal damage to property complaint was filed. Walmart halts retail theft Taylor Washington, 24, of Joliet, was arrested and charged with felony retail theft. According to the report, Walmart security stopped her when she attempted to walk out with $150 worth of merchandise without paying for it. She was taken to Will Couny Jail. THURSDAY, AUG. 2 Failure to Yield Mark Drodwell, 55, of Oak Lawn, was stopped in his car on U.S. Route 30 and Marley Road. According to the report, he was noticed for failure to yield and pulled over. Police discovered that he was also driving on a suspended license. He was ticketed for both traffic violations and released. Stolen Phone Police say a man from the 200 block of W.
