UPDATE: Lincoln-Way West's Cody Pedigo is Patch MVP

Lincoln-Way West's Cody Pedigo outpolled 10 others in voting for Southland Patch's MVP, Feb. 4-10. He is now eligible for Athlete of the Month honors.

Homewood-Flossmoor's Ricky Bullock outpolled 10 others in voting for Southland Patch's MVP, Jan. 28-Feb. 3. He is now eligible for Patch Athlete of the Month honors.

UPDATE: And the Winner in Voting for Patch Athlete of the Week is ...

Lincoln-Way West's Morgan Flaherty won the IHSA girls bowling state championship. And she outpolled six others in voting for Patch Athlete of the Week honors.

Lincoln-Way West's Morgan Flaherty outpolled six others in voting for Patch Athlete of the Week, Feb. 5-11. She is now eligible for February Patch Athlete of the Month Recognition. The candidates: Brianna Andrew, senior, girls bowling, Chicago Christian. Andrew was a sectional champion and placed 31st in the IHSA girls bowling state tournament. She averaged 207.0 for 12 games and finished with a pinfall total of 2,484. She rolled a 258 game in her first set on Saturday. Brooke Annerino, sophomore, guard, girls basketball, Oak Lawn. Annerino erupted for 18 points in the Spartans’ 62-40 victory over Argo. Her consistent play has helped Oak Lawn gain notice and build momentum for postseason play. The Patch Athlete of the Week is...

Providence Catholic's Alex Shermulis, who outpolled five other south suburban athletes to get this week's honor.

Girls basketball star Alex Shermulis of Providence Catholic outpolled five others in balloting for Patch Athlete of the Week honors. She got 63 percent of the vote. Shermulis is now eligible for December Patch Athlete of the Month recognition. The nominees for Southland Patch Athlete of the Week, Nov. 27 to Dec. 3, were: LaTondra Brooks, girls basketball, Oak Lawn: Brooks scored 34 points in a 69-50 win over Morton. Jon Calhoun, boys basketball, Tinley Park: Calhoun scored 20 points and grabbed two rebounds in a 58-56 win over Oak Lawn. His last-second layup was the game-winner for the Titans. Cory Chojnowski, wrestling, Andrew: Chojnowski won the heavyweight championship at the Stagg Invitational. He also led the T-Bolts to a second-place…
