Six residents are vying for three open seats on the New Lenox Public Library Board.

The 2013 election for the New Lenox Public Library District has six candidates running for three open seats. The 6-year term has attracted incumbents and newcomers alike. Each is looking to lend their interest and volunteer service to promote the many programs for children, young adults and adults in the community. The six candidates are: Early voting begins March 25. Chili Cook-Off: Secret Ingredients Add Spice to the Pot

New Lenox residents served their best chili Feb. 9 at New Lenox Library District for the 5th Annual Chili Cook-Off, sponsored by Gatto's.

From spicy to zesty, seven unique chili dishes were served up to about 85 taste-testers at the 5th Annual Chili Cook-Off Saturday at New Lenox Library. The contest, sponsored by Gatto's Restaurant & Pub, offered up a variety of hot and spicy combinations along with zesty vegetable and meat-chocked varieties of an all-time cold weather favorite food, chili. The homemade recipes drew a crowd of willing judges, including last year's winner John Kluk. He didn't participate this year, but he enjoyed sampling the entries. He wouldn't wouldn't reveal his favorite though. Gatto's provided the winners with gift cards.  Winners The winning recipe will be shared on the New Lenox Library District website on Monday.
