SUNDAY, MAY 19 Police investigated a report of criminal damage at about 2:05 p.m. The victim said someone broke the back window of his vehicle. The incident remains under investigation. SATURDAY, MAY 18 Police were called to Circle K, located in the 400 block of Nelson Road, for a report of a stolen garbage can, according to a report. It was in the front of the store before it went missing. FRIDAY, MAY 17 A burglary broke a window of a home in the 1000 block of East Have Avenue and stolen jewelry, according to a report. New Lenox police reports, May 12-16.
THURSDAY, MAY 16 Andrew Chambers, 19, of the 700 block of Brockwood, New Lenox, was charged with aggravated assault, according to a report. An officer was called at about 4:03 p.m. to the area of Bently and Lake for a report of an assault. Chambers is accused of making a threat while displaying a knife. WEDNESDAY, MAY 15 About $70 worth of merchandise was stolen from Walmart, located in the 500 block of East Route 30, according to a report. The theft happened at about 6:10 p.m. Keith Richards, 41, of the 900 block of Summit, Joliet, was charged with burglary, according to a report. Police were called at about 4:05 a.m. to Silver Cross Hospital in reference to a burglary. Richards is accused of forcing open the doors to the coffee shop. …

THURSDAY, MAY 9 Alejandro Aguillon, 22, of the 100 block of Branchaw Boulevard, New Lenox, was charged with driving under the influence, making an improper turn and speeding, according to a report. Police stopped Aguillon at about 2:13 a.m. near the intersection of Cedar Road and Terry Ellen Lane. Aguillon was allegedly found under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and released after posting bond. MONDAY, MAY 6 William Rempert, 44, of the 500 block of South State Street, Lockport, was charged with disorderly conduct, according to a report. In the post-Sandy Hook School environment, New Lenox Police headed an "active shooters" training session.
In the wake of the December 2012 Sandy Hook School shootings, New Lenox Police put together a proven emergency response program. The program was held in conjunction with the New Lenox Library District. On May 3, NLPD held a training that deals with active shooters. Kate Hall, library director, said the program was designed to educate staff on how to respond should an active shooter situation occur at the facility. Topics covered include the Federal Management Agency’s Run Hide Fight program, what to do when police enter the building, how to contact local authorities should an event occur, and steps to take in the aftermath of an event. SUNDAY, MAY 5 Jeffrey Wordelmann, 52, of the 1200 block of Maple Street, Blue Island, was charged with retail theft, according to a report. Police were called at about 8:27 a.m. to Wal-Mart, 500 E. Lincoln Hwy. An employee told police someone stole merchandise and left. Wordelmann was arrested at Lowes, located in the 2400 block of East Route 30, after a person matching his description was reported. THURSDAY, MAY 2 Timothy Soja, 58, of the 800 block of Stonegate Road, New Lenox, was charged with driving under the influence, failing to signal and driving without insurance, according to a report. He was stopped at about 2:54 p.m. in the 2300 block of East Route 30, after an officer saw him fail to signal. Soja posted bond and was released. Matthew Costenbader, 35, of the 1220 Martinsville, College Station, TX, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and speeding more than 40mph over the limit, according to a report. Not worried about people that commit violent crimes being published at all, I want them to be punished to the full degree. I just find it a little disturbing to see younger people put up on the patch for petty crimes.
