Makena Hartlin Band Opens for Lynyrd Skynyrd

The Makena Hartlin Band is playing this month at the Congress Theater this month.

Two Lincoln-Way Central High School graduates have joined forces to bring their own flavor of country music to the stage. Dave Skala does his magic both on stage and from his Orland Park recording studio, while Makena Hartlin belts out a melody that makes her music something special in a kind of raspy way. Hartlin lends not only her talent but also her name to the band. The Makena Hartland Band—she's the lead singer and Skala plays drums—features a few other multitalented musicians as well. After only four months together, they're in sync on the style of songs that speaks to the soul.
