Try fitness to the beat and get a workout with Zumba at New Lenox Library.

A Zumba fitness class is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. March 28. Instructors from Harmonic Way Group Fitness & Wellness, 1906 Ferro Drive, will be guiding the group. Visit the New Lenox Library website for a list of more classes and workshops, including how to make your own home brewed beer and an explanation of Prescriptions and Medicare Part D. Healthy Living Can Prevent Breast Cancer: Lincoln-Way Area Resources

Research shows good nutrition and exercise can help prevent breast cancer. Here are some resources around the Lincoln-Way area to help you stay healthy.

You might be able to find help fighting breast cancer and other types of cancers at your local grocery store and fitness centers, according to the research findings of Dr. Marian Neuhouser, Ph.D, RD.  Dr. Neuhouser is a nutritional epidemiologist with a background in nutritional sciences. She is an investigator at Seattle’s Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Her research is focused on lifestyle factors such as nutrition and physical activity. Some factors may prevent breast and prostate cancer and improve survivorship in those diagnosed with cancer.   According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, each year, more than 200,000 American women are diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 American women will die …

ShareFest 2012 Introduces a Fair Atmosphere: It's Fun to Volunteer

Music, dance and presentations motivate volunteers and brings families together in the annual volunteerism event in New Lenox.

Mayor Tim Baldermann Monday issued a proclamation celebrating the 11 Days of Giving implemented through ShareFest 2012 at the Village Board meeting. With plans for the sixth annual ShareFest underway, chairperson Gary Cheney is looking forward to the "fair atmosphere" that has surrounded the 11 Days of Giving, he said later. ShareFest is an annual event in New Lenox that brings together the community for a massive volunteerism effort. It includes numerous service projects, as well as collections for toys, books, food and lots more. Names In the News: Victoria Jones Opens Dance/Fitness Studio

Energy and enthusiasm emanate from Ferro Road studio.

Victoria Jones, owner of the newly opened Harmonic Way Group Fitness & Wellness, put a new spin on the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony. On Wednesday at 1906 Fero Road, the site of the new business, Jones along with instructor Kim O'Neil, of New Lenox, and student Talia Leitshu, of Manhattan, gave a Zumba dance demonstration for well-wishers present to support the new venture. Jones handed out free single lesson tickets to those who were inspired to join in the fun of combining exercise, fitness and dance. Jones also intends to offer Turbo Kick and Pilates regimens in the fall. Read more about the new business opening.
