Trustees Sworn In; Village Board Approves Recapture for Silver Cross

The Village Board approved a recapture agreement to pay back Silver Cross Hospital for funding the total cost of south approach intersection improvements at the Route 6 entrance.

Trustees David Smith, Annette Bowden and Ray Tuminello were sworn in for another four-year term at the regular meeting of the New Lenox Village Board Monday. The three incumbents faced no challengers in the April 2013 election. Mayor Tim Baldermann thanked them for their years of commitment to the village and their willingness to continue toward that end.  "We have six dedicated individuals that serve up here. They do a tremendous job. There's a wealth of experience up here. They do a wonderful job."   In other business, the board approved three recapture agreements to benefit Silver Cross Hospital, 1900 Silver Cross Boulevard. Dr. Jain was my children's pediatrician for several years (now 24 & 26). When my daughter had her first child in 2010 and was thinking of a pediatrician I suggested Dr. Jain, who did see him in the hospital but on our 1 week after visit declined taking him on as a patient because he was Medicaid. 2013 Election NLSD122: Martino, Smith, Adair, Starklauf and Miller

Patrick Martino was the top vote-getter in the New Lenox School District 122 Board of Education race. Ten candidates were vying for five seats.

The race for the New Lenox School District 122 Board of Education by far was the most contentious in the town of Proud Americans. Ten candidates were running for five seats. Four seats were for four-year terms and one was a two-year term.  The top vote-getters for the four-year term were: incumbents Patrick Martino with 20.8 percent of the vote; Sue Smith, who garnered 14.20 percent, along with newcomers Phil Adair, who got 12.23 percent, and Rhonda Starklauf with 11.86 percent. Incumbents Deborah Kedzior and William Pender lost their bid for re-election, as did candidates Thomas Hottinger and Gregory Look.  Kathy Miller topped write-in candidate Todd Hyatt for a two-year term. The elections are over. Now it's time to see who won and find out what they're planning. Here is the the list of the bigger races that affect New Lenox. Early Voting Totals in New Lenox and New Lenox Township

The Will County Clerk's website reveals the details of early votes cast for the 2013 April Consolidated Elections.

Between March 25th and the end of day on April 4, the Will County Clerk's website shows a total of 4,047 voters cast a ballot for the April 9 Consolidated Election. In the Village of New Lenox, a total of 95 votes were cast at Village Hall, and 24 residents voted at the New Lenox Township Office.  The numbers exclude votes cast on Friday and Saturday. In addition, 507 ballots from residents throughout the county were cast in-person at the Will County Clerk's Office, and 3,371 were cast with local clerks throughout the county.  To review the early voting totals county-wide, visit the Will County County Clerk's page here. Six residents are vying for three open seats on the New Lenox Public Library Board.

The 2013 election for the New Lenox Public Library District has six candidates running for three open seats. The 6-year term has attracted incumbents and newcomers alike. Each is looking to lend their interest and volunteer service to promote the many programs for children, young adults and adults in the community. The six candidates are: Early voting begins March 25. NLSD122 Member Miller Files Federal Lawsuit Against Broderick

New Lenox School District 122 board member Kathy Miller filed a federal lawsuit against fellow board member Maureen Broderick, accusing her of violating her 1st and 14th amendment rights.

New Lenox School District 122 board member Kathy Miller filed a federal lawsuit against fellow board member Maureen Broderick. The suit alleges that Broderick violated Miller's First and 14th amendment rights. According to the Miller's attorney Mike Foley, the suit was filed on March 27 at the Dirksen Federal Building in Chicago. The lawsuit stems from the Jan. 11 election hearing regarding Miller's candidate petition. The 2-1 vote at that hearing temporarily removed Miller's name from the April 9 election ballot. Ultimately, Miller was placed back on the ballot. The notary error on the petition was determined on Jan. 28 to be insufficient to eliminate incumbent Miller from the New Lenox school board ballot, Will County Judge John Anderson…
