The Cook County Sheriff has arrest warrants out for these accused "deadbeat dads" in the south suburbs.
Child support warrants are most often filed when a person neglects to pay child support bills, Cook County Sheriff's Office representatives said last week. However, warrants may also be issued in other cases, such as when a person doesn't report to a police department to provide a required DNA sample or when he or she doesn't notify authorities of salary increases. The following child support warrants were listed by the Cook County Sheriff's Office as of April 19: The last known address listed for Jason Browe, 39, is in the 2600 block of Schooner Avenue in New Lenox, according to county records. He doesn't owe any child support payments but is wanted on a related warrant. Demetrius Cantrell, 47, had $35,462.63 in child support payments …

In response to the post Wanted for Child Support Delinquency, April 6, several Patch commenters took issue with the way the system treats men. Kevin Foster writes: "If you are a man in Illinois, you have absolutely no father rights. Courts are so pro-woman it isn't even funny. Equality my pink butt." James Wagner writes: "How about posting the pictures and address of the vindictive, selfish, scorned "Ex" who continue to take the non-custodial parents to court who paid in excess of support owed??? Instead of wasting the taxpayers' and court system's time, and padding the bank accounts of these low life legalized thiefs they call "Divorce Attorneys"? And Kathleen Austin writes: "The article lists a woman, as well. There are many horror …

Nicholas Sord's defense attorney will soon ask a judge for time to independently review DNA samples to provide his side of the crash that killed Jessica Mejia.
Cook County prosecutors withdrew a claim on Tuesday that Nicholas Sord of Orland Park violated the terms of his bond, showing evidence instead that the reckless homicide defendant had a prescription for painkillers at the time of recent drug tests. The opiates he recently tested positive for were prescribed by a doctor in November and December following hand surgeries involving pins to mend broken bones, said his attorney, Jeff Aprati. Bryan Sord said his son fell on his left hand while exercising at Swallow Cliff in Palos Park. Police said Sord was close to three times over the blood-alcohol limit on New Year’s Day 2010 when he lost control of his SUV near 147th Street and Oak Park Avenue, killing his 20-year-old girlfriend, Jessica Mejia…

The Southland's major criminal and civil cases heard in Cook County and Will County courts this week. FRANKFORT — The Will County jailhouse will not be required to stop filming the private conversations of a man on trial for murder, but it will need permission before printing those videos again, a Will County judge ordered on Monday. Last year Brian Trainauskas, who was charged with first-degree murder and then solicitation of murder, alleged that a Will County sheriff’s deputy attacked him to force a confession. His attorney, George Andrews, said he became worried about their privacy when a subsequent internal affairs investigation produced a silent videotape of him and his client conversing over a laptop. In court, Andrews argued the …
