College Signing Day: 4 Providence Football Players Make Commitments

Four seniors made their selections official in ceremony at school on Wednesday.

Don Sebestyen, principal of Providence Catholic High School, highlighted the achievements of senior football players Brian Fordon, Jack Fordon, Tony Petta and Kevin Ward. They each committed to continue their football careers at the collegiate level. “We are extremely proud of these student-athletes who are leaders among their peers and have worked hard in the classroom and on the field. We wish them the very best in college and in the future,” said Sebestyen. College Signing Day: 6 at Lincoln-Way Central

Knights football, baseball, soccer and volleyball stars recruited for college athletics teams.

For Matthew Mikolajczak, a senior at Lincoln-Way Central High School, top honors are nothing unusual. With a GPA of 5.049, this 17-year-old student from New Lenox is destined to be a standout at Ohio University too. A star baseball player for the Knights, he signed a letter of intent Wednesday. The left handed pitcher who's played on the varsity team since he was a freshman is living out a dream come true. "I've always wanted to play Division 1 baseball," he said. Speaking at a ceremony at LWC's Knights of the Round Table Hall, Baseball Coach Scott Gardner spoke equally about Mikolajczak's athletic and academic prowess.
