New Lenox Man Wins Lucky Day Lotto

It wasn't the Illinois Powerball Jackpot, but Joseph J. of New Lenox still won $58,000 in the Lucky Day Lotto!

A New Lenox man won $58,333 playing the lottery last week, according to the Illinois Lottery Facebook page.  While most people were consumed with the Illinois Powerball Jackpot drawing on Thursday, Joseph J., of New Lenox, played the Lucky Day Lotto last week and had the winning ticket.  He purchased his ticket at the Circle K gas station, 471 Nelson Rd. in New Lenox.  According to Illinois Lottery, Joseph plans to use some of his winnings during the holiday season.  It isn't the only successful ticket recently sold in New Lenox. In April 2011, a $250,000 Little Lotto ticket was a winner after it was purchased at the Village Liquor Mart.  Earlier in 2011, lottery agents in New Lenoxsold one of the 500 winning $1,000 tickets in this year's …

Will County Police Blotter: Second Masked Robbery at Frankfort Circle K

Will County Sheriff's Office reports, Oct. 17-21 • Gold and Jewelry Stolen in Frankfort Break-In • Second Masked Robbery at Frankfort Circle K • Equipment Stolen from Electrician’s Truck in Mokena • Tools Stolen From Truck in Frankfort.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 17 Unknown persons broke into a residence on the 7500 block of W. Lakeside Drive in Frankfort. Gold coins and jewelry were stolen. THURSDAY, OCT. 18 Deputies responded at 4:26 a.m. to an armed robbery in progress at Shell Circle K at 7654 W. Lincoln Hwy in Frankfort. The attendant said that at 4:24 a.m. a man entered the store wearing a face-covering mask with eyes that looked like those of a bug or alien. The masked man pointed a silver semi-automatic handgun at the attendant and placed a mesh bad on the store counter. The attendant gave the masked man approximately $120 from the register and the robber ran from the store. The masked man was described as 5 feet 5 inches tall and of a slender build. Business Brief: Jewel Express Station Sold to Circle K

Jewel is working on a deal to keep providing discounted gas for its grocery store shoppers.

Jewel Express gas stations in the Chicago market, including the one off Nelson Road in New Lenox, were sold last month to the company that owns Circle K, according to a news release from the company.  The deal was made between Jewel Express owner SuperValu Inc., based in Minnesota, and the Canadian Alimentation Couche-Tard/Circle K company. SuperValu acquired the Jewel/Osco food-drug store chain in 2006, when the company took over and broke up Jewel's parent company, Albertson's. When the Jewel Express sale is finalized this fall, it's anticipated the stores will be converted to Circle K stations. According to SuperValue, the sale of the gas stations was done to "raise money to strengthen other parts of its core grocery business." But how …

Speedway to Buy Gas City Stations in Frankfort, Surrounding Area

The Ohio-based gas station and convenience store chain placed winning bids on Gas City properties throughout the South Suburbs.

Speedway LLC is the potential buyer of multiple Gas City stations in the area, including Frankfort, Mokena and New Lenox, according to court documents. Last week, the Frankfort-based Gas City auctioned off its 50 stations in Illinois, Indiana, Florida and Arizona as part of the company's Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in order to pay off debts. On Wednesday, a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge in Chicago will decide whether to approve the sale of those stations. After that, Gas City will work with the indivdual buyers to close the sales of the properties. Speedway, which is owned by Marathon Petroleum Co., is an Ohio-based chain of gas stations and convenience stores with locations throughout the Midwest. A spokesman for Speedway said he could not…
