Providence Catholic Cheerleaders Named Grand National Champions

Celtic varsity cheerleaders take home the top trophy from the NCA Open Nationals Championship in Louisville, KY.

Providence Catholic High School varsity cheerleaders were crowned Grand National Champions at the NCA Open Nationals Championship. They were honored for their achievement Feb. 25 at the New Lenox Village Board meeting. Mayor Tim Baldermann read a proclamation in their honor, citing their hard work and commitment.    The 21-member squad captured the award Feb. 23 in Louisville, KY. The Celtics took first place and were named National Champions in the Advanced Small Varsity Division, said Jamie O'Brien, PCHS communications director. "They also had the highest score of all the divisions at the competition, which earned them the Grand National Champion title." Providence Varsity Cheerleaders Bring Home Championship Title

The Celtics take 1st at the IHSA Cheerleading Tournament in Bloomington.

Providence Catholic High School's varsity cheerleaders made history Feb. 2 by earning the school's first State Championship title at the Illinois High School Association Cheerleading Tournament in Bloomington. With a score of 93.72, the cheerleaders gave PCHS its 26th State Championship title.  The varsity cheerleaders placed second in State in 2007, third in 2011, fourth in 2012 and fifth in 2009.  The squad won its IHSA Sectional Cheerleading Championship title for the third year in a row, said Jamie O'Brien, PCHS communications director.
