The Legacy Girls Traveling Soccer Team paid tribute to Karly Little, of New Lenox, at practice Monday. Little died in a car accident over the weekend.
Parents huddled together on the sidelines of the soccer field at Lincoln-Way Central High School on Monday while members of the Legacy Girls Traveling Soccer Team practiced. It wasn't the usual friendly routine. Instead, the sidelines were somber while parents commented on the tragedy of a life taken too soon. Nine-year-old Karly Little, of New Lenox, died in a two-car collision Saturday at Route 50 and Kankakee County 6000 N. Road. Teammates from the Legacy team dedicated Monday's practice as a memorial to her. Little, a fourth-grader at Nelson Ridge School, was a passenger in the car driven by her father, Ken Little, 53. Manhattan resident Jake Stevens, 22, died in a Frankfort Township car accident. New Lenox man Kevin Krohn was driving the vehicle, and police suspect alcohol was involved in the crash.
Police believe alcohol was a factor in the fatal car accident that killed a Manhattan man Saturday while the driver, a New Lenox man, escaped. The accident occurred about 3:45 a.m. Aug. 25 in Frankfort Township. The passenger, 22-year-old Jake Stevens of Manhattan, died as a result of burns. Stevens was a passenger in a car driven by Kevin Krohn, 22, of New Lenox, when the vehicle went off the road and hit an obstruction. A 26-year-old Manhattan man died Wednesday night following a three-car crash in New Lenox Township. Bryan L. Bulger was pronounced dead shortly after he was extricated from his car and airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital. According to the Will County Sheriff's Department, Bulger and a 24-year-old female passenger were heading south on Cedar Road near Delaney Road in a black Chevy. One man was taken away in a police vehicle Saturday night after a car crashed into a light pole at the intersection of Laraway Road and Cardinal Drive, according to witnesses. New Lenox Police officers at the scene would not comment about how the accident happened or if anyone was hurt. New Lenox police say a man took 2 pounds of marijuana from another Wednesday, then displayed a gun and demanded money. The two struggled, and eventually the car they were in flipped over.
A drug deal gone wrong resulted in a car flipping over Wednesday afternoon in New Lenox, police said. Police were called to a car accident in the 100 block of Illinois Highway, just west of Cedar Road, at about 4 p.m. Wednesday and saw two men running from the scene carrying large bags. Officers were able to catch the men and found about 2 pounds of marijuana and a handgun close to the accident. According to the New Lenox Police Department, two men met in the parking lot of the strip mall at the corner of Cedar and Illinois to conduct a drug deal. Traffic is stopped on Interstate 80 after a semi truck going west crossed the median and collided with another car, a witness said.
A semi truck collided with another car Monday morning on Interstate 80, closing down lanes and sending two people to the hospital with undisclosed injuries. According to a witness on the scene, a truck headed westbound blew out a tire and crossed the median, hitting a car that was moving east. The accident occurred just east of Gougar Road in New Lenox. The witness said an infant was removed from the car and appeared to be OK. The driver of the car was taken to the hospital, but the witness said she appeared conscious. Interstate 80 traffic was backed up in the westbound lanes starting at about Cedar Road in New Lenox on Friday evening. Police and fire officials were on the scene for an apparent accident, but details of what happened weren't immediately available. According to Patch's commuter guide, a car overturned, blocking the right lane of traffic just west of Cedar Road. Traffic is stop-and-go between the Interstate 355 junction to the west and Wolf Road to the east. The lane was closed as of 6:42 p.m., according to the commuter guide. Two Providence Catholic students were injured in a car accident last week, and the school is keeping the community updated on the progress of their recovery.
Providence Catholic High School is keeping the community updated on the recovery of two of its students who were involved in a car accident last week. Nicole Beaulieu and Brittany Pirc, both of Elwood, were on the way home from track practice Tuesday, March 27, when they pulled onto Route 53 in Joliet and collided with a semi trailer, according to the Joliet Fire Department Both women were taken to the Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center to recover from injuries. Beaulieu was released from the hospital but Pirc remains there in a coma after suffering head injuries. "We continue to pray for their healing, and our thoughts and prayers are with both girls and their families," a message on the Providence Catholic website stated. According to…
