4 KILOS x2.2 lbs/kilo is 8.8 POUNDS of heroin.

4 KILOS is 4000 grams. A dose is 1/10 of a gram.

They " misplaced " 40,000 doses of heroin ?

What was the final outcome of the investigation ? Did the State Police of FBI get involved? Was the watch commander fired? What did the video tape show ?

That sure is a LARGE quantity of drugs to be let loose on the street. If a citizen was caught with that quantity, it would be mandatory minimums and an unparolable offense.

Funny how we never heard more about this rather large Faux Pas.

October 20, 2011 (JOLIET, Ill.) (WLS) -- Individually wrapped KILOS of heroin worth about a half million dollars were stolen from the Will County Sheriff's Department.

A shipping container in a fenced in yard at the Laraway service facility of the Will County Sheriff's Department contained the evidence, which was stolen sometime before last Friday, October 14.

"We weren't certain, frankly, at the time, was it missing or just misplaced or could it be in the courts. It took three or four days to conduct an audit of that. We are now pretty confident we don't have control of the item," said Ken Kaupas, Will County Sheriff's Department.

The heroin, worth approximately $500,000, was wrapped in four one-kilogram packages.
