No Derrick Rose, No Problem

The Chicago Bulls have been without MVP point guard Derrick Rose. Has it slowed them down?

No Derrick Rose, No Problem.

Reigning MVP of the league, Derrick Rose, has been forced to sit out the last six games due to a groin injury.

Has it slowed the Bulls down?

Of course not.

The Bulls are 5-1 since Rose sustained the injury on March 12 versus the Knicks and, with Saturday’s close win over the Toronto Raptors, are the first team to clinch a playoff birth.

The time with out Rose has seemingly been beneficial for the other players on the team. Carlos Boozer has found his groove and has led the Bulls in scoring while the “Bench Mob” has had key performances from the likes of John Lucas and Kyle Korver.

Let us not forget the value of Derrick Rose. However, the string of injuries he has been dealing with has forced players to step up. This is good because the road to the Finals is through Miami and in order to beat the Heat all of the Bulls rotational players are going to need to bring the same intensity they have been demonstrating over the past two weeks.

The Bulls are saying that Derrick could return in the next week, but Rose has also said the injury was more severe than he initially thought. Obviously the Bulls want Rose back in the line up; they also want to be sure the injury is 100 percent healed and will not be re-aggravated when Rose is finally back on the court.

This could be the Bulls season and if they keep playing with the camaraderie that has become synonymous with Bulls basketball they will have a great chance at a title this year.

Oh, and play great defense.
