Charity Car Wash for Food Pantry

Acccording to New Lenox Township Trustee Marty Boban, the New Lenox Township Food Pantry has seen a 5 fold increase in demand the past several years.

The food pantry website, www.newlenox.org/family.asp, states "currently the food pantry is experiencing record level demand each week".  The pantry does not operate on tax dollars but soley on contributions from the community. This struggling economy means we're all hurting to some degree. Unfortunately, some of our neighbors are really hurting.

What can you do? Volunteer! The Calabria Foundation has selected the New Lenox Food Pantry as the primary beneficiary of it's fall fund raising campaign.

We plan on holding two events this fall.  The first event, a $5 per car charity car wash, is scheduled for Saturday 8/20/11 from 11am until 2pm.  The car wash will be held in the parking lot of Central Presbyterian Church on the corner of Spencer Rd and Gougar Rd across from Lincoln Way West High School.

The second event, a $10 per plate charity dinner, is planned for October.  Date and location of the dinner will be determined and communicated later. I contact you to determine if you and/or your child(ren) are interested in volunteering for either event.

For the car wash, I estimate we'll need 7 - 10 people total.  I'll provide the buckets, soap, sponges and towels - you provide the labor.  I'll be on site at both events so you can drop your child and run errands if you wish.
