Welcome the Season of Advent!

The United Methodist Church of New Lenox wishes to invite everyone to celebrate the Advent Season with us this year!  We have many events scheduled throughout the season.  Feel free to join us for any or all of the many wonderful events that help to put us in the mood for awaiting the coming of Christ's birth!

Sunday, December 8
, UMCNL will host the Madrigals from Lincoln-Way Central and Lincoln-Way West.  Join us in the sounds and sights of Christmas past as we listen to the voices of area youth celebrating the coming Christmas Season in victorian costumes!  Lincoln-Way Central Madrigals will perform at the 9:00 A.M. worship service and the Lincoln-Way West Madrigals will perform at the 10:45 A.M. worship service.

Sunday, December 8 Healing Service will be held in the Chapel at 10:00 A.M.  We are just days from Christmas.  For many, this is a time of happy anticipation with joyous occasions, the laughter of children, the lighting of candles and the wrapping of gifts.  For others, Christmas presents a challenge because of a loss or difficulty in the past year.  You or someone you care deeply about could be suffering through disease or illness, grief of a loved one's death, or a financial challenge.  Any number of situations make joy difficult to convey or receive.

This Sunday, our Healing and Anointing Service will focus on hope and healing for those who are struggling.  We hope you will come or bring someone who would benefit from a message of hope.  We will pray, sing, seek to inspire and give everyone an awareness of the light of Christ even in the darkest of situations. OPEN TO ALL COMMUNITY INVITED!

Sunday, December 15, UMCNL will celebrate the coming Christmas Season with the performance of the Christmas Cantata"Go Tell It" (given in memory of loved ones by John and Lois Meyer, Vivian VanDonk and Carol Schirmer).  The adult Chancel Choir will be accompanied by a 24 piece live orchestra and will feature beautiful liturgical dancers to enhance this musical performance.  The cantata will be performed at both the 9:00 A.M. and the 10:45 A.M. worship services.  (If the grounds are frozen, parking will be available on the grass as well as in the parking lot to better accommodate those wishing to attend.)

Sunday, December 22 will not only  celebrate our usual worship services at 9:00 A.M. and 10:45 A.M., but will also feature our Community Event at 6:00 P.M. entitled "The Roots of Our Traditional American Christmas" will be a joint event with St. Jude's Catholic Church.  The St. Jude's Bell Choir and the UMCNL Celebration Bells will perform, as well as the Chancel Choir and enhanced visual experiences with the liturgical dancers as we hear of how our celebration of Christmas has evolved from many countries over the years to encompass so many traditions that many families still associate with Christmas today.

5:00 P.M. ~ Worship with the sounds and music of our congregation's children's choirs and enjoy  the message of this candlelight service that is geared toward families with younger children, so that they can get a good night's sleep before the arrival of Christmas morning.

~ Listen to the music and songs of the season featuring the Chancel Choir and a message of good tidings for all people in this candlelight service.

11:00 P.M.
~ Hear the bells of Christmas Eve by the Celebration Bell choir during this candlelight service for those that enjoy closing out the evening in worship of the newborn king.

Sunday, December 29, wrap up 2013 by worshipping with us at the 9:00 A.M. or 10:45 A.M. service as we prepare to enter a new year in the coming week on this first Sunday after Christmas Day.
