Celebrate

‘Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.’ So he went away, proclaiming throughout the city how much Jesus had done for him. ~ Luke 8.39

In just over a week from now, my nephew, who was injured in Afghanistan, will be celebrating with his community in a “Welcome Home” celebration.  There will be a parade, a speech, bands, raffles, drawings, kiddie activities, t-shirts – you name it.  It will be one great big gathering to say “thank you” to all that have supported him in his recovery as well as for the community to thank him for his service and sacrifice for his country.

We are to also “declare how much God has done” for us!  We need to go out and celebrate the wonderful works of our Heavenly Father in our lives – thanking Him as well as showing others how great and marvelous He is.  We need to constantly thank and praise our God for our lives and all He has provided for us – the home we have, the food we eat, the love of friends and family around us, our health and for physicians that work to restore our health to us when we are not well.  We need to draw together as a community of faith – as in the old days of the old camp meetings – to renew our covenant with God to remain faithful to Him, to spread the good news of His saving grace to others, and live our lives as He wishes us to live them.  Let the celebration begin!

Thank You for all of Your marvelous gifts You have provided us in our lives.  Let us constantly be in a state of celebration in our lives by proclaiming Your love and grace to others.  Amen.
