Ash Wednesday Services at the United Methodist Church of New Lenox

Ash Wednesday Lent Events at the United Methodist Church of New Lenox on Wednesday, February 13, 2013.

Lent is an important time in the Christian life - a time of self-searching, reflection, and asking God to change and renew our hearts.  During Lent, we "journey" with Jesus as He walks to Jerusalem to give Himself as the Gift of God's love for a sinful world, and bears our sin, our hate, our brokenness, on the cross.  We take this journey as a community of people, who all share the need for Christ's powerful forgiveness.  The United Methodist Church of New Lenox has two upcoming events for Ash Wednesday.  The United Methodist Women will be hosting their Annual Ash Wednesday Service and Brunch and there will also be a Lent Workshop that same evening, which includes family time along with a worship service.

The UMW Ash Wednesday Service and Brunch is open to all women in the surrounding area who would like to participate in this meaningful service with the imposition of ashes and communion at 9:00 AM in the Sanctuary on Wednesday, February 13.  This is immediately followed by a delicious brunch in the Fellowship Area.  There is no cost, however a free-will offering will be taken.

The Lent Workshop will begin at 6:00 PM and will include learning activities and conversation starters for all ages, and crafts for children.  A light supper will be served and there is no charge, although a free-will offering will be taken.  This event will be wrapped up with a worship service at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary that will include the imposition of ashes and communion.
