A 51-year-old New Lenox man was killed in an accident in the wee hours of the morning Aug. 17 when the pickup truck he was driving overturned near the intersection of Schoolhouse and Delaney Roads in Manhattan Township, according to the Will County Coroner's Office.
Richard W. Schroeder was pronounced dead at 3:06 a.m. at Silver Cross Hospital.
The Sun-Times Media reported that Schroeder was westbound on Delaney Road when he lost control of the pickup truck. Will County Sheriff's police investigating the accident said Schroeder's vehicle hit a ditch and overturned. "He was ejected and trapped underneath," said Lt. Steve Talmontas.
The Coroner's office said an autopsy revealed that Schroeder died of multiple injuries.
Sheriff's police are awaiting the results of toxicology tests to determine whether or not alcohol was a contributing factor, the Sun-Times-Media reports.
