Jefferson Street Bridge to Close for 3 Week
The closure starts Sept. 30. Detours routing Jefferson Street and U.S. 30 traffic around the span will be posted.

The Jefferson Street Bridge over the Des Plaines River -- the main route into downtown Joliet from the west side of the city -- will be closed from Sept. 30 to Oct. 18 for maintenance.
The closure is required by the Illinois Department of Transportation, which is doing the work.
Avenue, McDonough Street, Chicago Street and Washington Street will be posted. There will also be one set up for U.S. 30/Plainfield Road, directing vehicles to Theodore Street, Broadway Street, Ruby Street, Chicago Street and Ottawa Street.
