Report on Will County Board Meeting for June 2012

Will County Board Action Items

The Will County Board took action on the following items:

1.  Appropriated $4000 in grant funds from the Illinois Dept. of Public Health in the Coroner's budget for purchas of new equipment.

2.  Appropriated $2257 in grant funds from United Way in the Health Dept. budget for medical supplies.

3.  Increased appropriations in the amount of $15,000 in the Sheriff's Corporate budget due to receipt of Article 36 Vehicle Seizure Funds. 

4.  Awarded Contract to Van-Mack Electric Co. in the amount of $179,228 for new traffic signals at Laraway and Center Road in Frankfort.

5.  Approved Professional Services Agreement for Design Engineering Services (Phase II) with Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick, Inc. for a new bridge over Prairie Creek in Manhattan Township. 

6.  Awarded Bid for IL Route 53 Corridor Plan from Joliet to the south part of the County to Consultant Services to be paid for by a grant ($194,000) from Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning. 

7.  Approved two Technical Services agreements with the Regional Transit Authority who will provide funding in the amount of $173,000 and $160,000 for Paratransit Services and a Services Coordinator for service to areas in southeast Will County.  

8.  Approved acceptance of a Grant in the amount of $5,146,000 from DCEO Disaster Recovery IKE Program to buy 40 properties in Plainfield, Channahon, and Crete due to past flooding and to turn the properties over to Park Districts and the Will County Forest Preserve to be used for parks and open space.

9.  Heard a report from the Will County Health Dept. that the Will County Board of Health received funding in the amout of $830,000 over the next 13 months to screen mental health patients and refer they to other facilities due to the closing of the Tinley Park Mental Health Center. 

The Forest Preserve Executive Director reported to the Forest Preserve Board on June 14 that the Forest Preserve received a grant from U. S. Dept. of Fish  and Wildlife in the amount of $75,000 for improvements at the Hadley Valley Preserve in New Lenox.
