REPORT ON WILL COUNTY BOARD MEETING FOR AUGUST 2012

The following items were approved by the County Board:

1.  The Marshall Cemetery on Regan Road in New Lenox Township was designated as a Historic Landmark.  The Cemetery was started in 1835.  It is now maintained by the New Lenox Township Board.  The Cemetery was nominated by the New Lenox Historical Society and Will County Historic Preservation Commission.

2.  The abatement of 50% of Will County's property taxes for a 3 year period for U.S. Cold Storage, Inc. , Wilmington, IL., due to the planned expansion of their cold storage and logistics facility which will create 22 jobs.

3.  A resolution supporting build alternative B-3 for the Illiana Expressway Corridor from I-55 near Wilmington to I-65 in Indiana, as it is the shortest, least costly, and least impacting to existing buildings and environmental features, it should reduce truck traffic on I-80 and other roads in the county, as well as aid in access to a proposed third airport near Peotone.

4.  A resolution to have Wight & Company perform a physical building assessment of the First Midwest Bank building in Joliet, which the county is considering purchasing for the future site of a new Courthouse.

5.  A waste tire collection event to be held on October 26th & 27th to collect used car, small truck and farm tires for disposal, the event site is the Will County Fair Grounds in Peotone

6.  The Board heard a report from the County Board's Legislative Committee that the Illinois Joint Committee on Administrative Rules of the Illinois Legislature, that groundwater monitoring wells, which the County was seeking to protect ground water,  will not be required at quarries in Will county which are being filled with construction and demolition debris.

The Forest Preserve Board approved the transfer of one Ford F150 Police truck to the Will County Emergency Management Agency due to no longer being needed by the Forest Preserve and it was previously a joint purchase with EMA.
