Get Tickets for Variety Knight Fundraiser Presented by Friends of Barb Hostert

A fundraiser is being held at Lincoln-Way Central on March 17 to benefit Barb Hostert of Mokena.

A variety night filled with comedy, music, and entertainment is being held on March 17, 2012, at in New Lenox to benefit Barb Hostert of Mokena, who has been battling Multiple Sclerosis since 1990. In 2011, the disease left Barb quadriplegic.

For those who do not know Barb, she once played for the "All American Red Heads," the only professional basketball team at the time, from 1974 to 1980. The team was akin to the Harlem Globetrotters, and Barb would play 200 games a season and had the chance to travel to every state.

The ‘All American Red Heads’ were pioneers for women’s basketball, and Barb played a part in breaking down the barrier for women in sports. Barb’s basketball skills were so outstanding, that she is mentioned on the website www.allamericanredheads.com, and once played for the Milwaukee Does of the WBL.
