August 18 Hurricane Party fundraiser a Category 3 success

The New Lenox VFW would like to thank everyone for attending and supporting the Hurricane Party fundraiser held on August 18, 2012.

The New Lenox VFW Post 9545 would like to thank Berkot’s Super Foods, JL Design, CP Meat Market, Jewel-Osco (Laraway Rd.), Target and Beggar’s Pizza for their contribution to our hurricane party fundraiser on August 18, 2012. Your support helped us raise money for our organization in difficult times, and we are
grateful for all the assistance that was provided. We appreciate having the business community behind us in our mission.

Our guests really enjoyed the shrimp boil with sausage, corn, and potatoes. The jambalaya was hot and the hurricane drinks were cool and refreshing.  The local band In Transition provided our entertainment, and many people enjoyed dancing to a variety of classic songs. Volunteers from Target had fun giving out free raffle tickets to anyone who wanted to play a few hands of Blackjack or attempt to hula-hoop for a minute or two in front of the crowd, making our hurricane party a Category 3 success. Thank you everyone who attended and rode out the storm with us. You were a fun crowd and we were happy to have you.

I’d also like to thank the members of the Men’s and Ladies’ Auxiliary
for all their help in the kitchen cooking, preparing and serving food. Everyone
did a great job to keep it running smoothly.

Thanks again,

Tim Howe
