LWSRA Announces Park Parties
Come on out for Free Community Events at the Park District sponsored by LWSRA!
The Lincolnway Special Recreation Association is hosting community events in conjunction with the park districts of Frankfort, Mokena, and New Lenox. These events invite residents to come out and enjoy their local parks. Each Monday in May, from 6pm - 8pm, these events will bring family activities completely free to local parks.
Starting on Monday, May 7th at New Lenox Community Park District’s Firefighters Park (1 Manor Drive), this Park Party will feature a dj dance party, dino jump, surprise guest mascots, face painters, balloon artists, and much more. The Park Parties will then move on to Mokena Park District’s Marley Creek Park (10555 West Jacob Drive) on Monday, May 14th and feature the same great fun at a whole new location. The last Park Party will be held at Heritage Knolls Park (22028 Heritage Drive) which is a part of the Frankfort Park District on Monday, May 21st.
These events will also feature great community resources and businesses in their area including Southwest Airlines, Marquette Bank, Scentsy Candles, Lil Miracles Sign Language Academy, the National Animal Welfare Society, PAWS, Chick-Fil-A, Rasmussen College, Brannigan Chiropractic, Luxury House Painting, and Wallace Entertainment. This will also be a great opportunity for residents to learn about the upcoming summer programming for their local park districts and the LWSRA.
Last year these events saw over one hundred people come out and enjoy the free festivities and LWSRA is proud to bring these events to the community again. ”It was a bigger turnout than expected”, said Keith Wallace, Superintendent of Recreation at the LWSRA of last year’s events, “This is a great chance to get in touch with the community and really get our name out there.”
Lincolnway Special Recreation Association is an extension of the New Lenox, Mokena, Frankfort, Manhattan, and Peotone Park Districts. LWSRA has served individuals with special needs in the community for 36 years and is building its own recreation center at Heather Glen Park in New Lenox.
LWSRA is also sponsoring a Butter Braid sale until May 18 and having an Eat-N-Earn date with Panera Bread on May 21st. More information about all these events can be found by calling (815) 464 - 2811 or visiting LWSRA.org.
