Annual Touch-A-Truck Brings out Hundreds to Walker Park

New Lenox Community Park District's Touch-A-Truck event captured the interest of hundreds at Walker Park.

By Lauren Lotz

The parking lot was jam-packed with an ambulance, backhoe, crane, dump trucks, fire trucks, limousine, natural gas powered cement truck, police car and motorcycle, residential trash truck, school bus, semi-truck, tractor, TV camera truck and vactor truck all for this year’s Touch-ATruck event.  The new venue, Walker Park, again proved to be a memorable event for kids in the Lincoln Way area with over 500 people in attendance.

Throughout the day, the young attendees were able to experience each of these vehicles or  machines up close.  Kids were able to honk the semi truck’s horn, turn on the lights and sirens  on the police vehicles, climb on top of the fire truck, be mesmerized by the party lights in the limo, view the video equipment in the TV camera truck, as well as sit in the cab of the vehicles  o pull and poke on things as they like.
