Hutchinson Announces Campaign for Congress Says she will focus on protecting seniors, investing in education, and expanding transportation infrastructure.

Says she will focus on protecting seniors, investing in education, and expanding transportation infrastructure.

Toi Hutchinson today kicked off her campaign for Congress in Illinois’s second district at a press conference at Prairie Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She said she was running to bring a new voice to Washington that would advocate for critical issues like protecting Medicare and Social Security and investing in education and transportation infrastructure to boost the economy of the south suburbs and southside Chicago in the long term.

“As a wife, a daughter, a working mother of three teenagers and a proud resident of the Southland, I relate to our parents - struggling to keep our children safe and readying them for college, while taking care of our own aging parents,” said Hutchinson. “We right now are facing a really scary time. We have got to make sure we build the middle class from the inside out and not the top down. So I want to bring a record of practical solutions to really pressing problems. That's what I want to go fight for.”

“I want to stand with the President Obama. I want to stand with the president to renew the middle class with economic development and new job opportunities. I want to secure and shore up medicare and social security and make sure that we have historic new investment in our educational system.”

Senator Hutchinson was joined by her family. Also standing with her at the announcement were:

State Representative Anthony DeLuca
State Representative Lisa Dugan
State Representative Thaddeus Jones
State Representative Al Riley
Deb Woodruff, Kankakee County Auditor
Paul Braun, Mayor of Flossmoor
Nina Epstein, Mayor of Kankakee
Calvin Jordan, Rich Township Highway Commissioner
Steve Hunter, Kankakee City Council
Carl Brown, Kankakee City Council
John Willard, Kankakee Democratic Party Chairman

People coming from the east will now have to fight through school traffic at Rt. 30/Schoolhouse.Read More People from southwest New Lenox will have to either venture up Cedar, which is painfully slow... or take Spencer from Laraway, in which they will have to cross Rt. 30 to go straight. Won't be an easy picnic.
