You'd be surprised how nice some of the country roads are around here.

The trails are perfect for the average recreational cyclist. When I first started, I prefered OPT (Old Plaink Trail). Lots of good stopping points, varying scenery, etc.
But now, I much prefer going on the road. At the speeds I cycle (20+mph), the trails are not safe, for me nor anyone else on the trail. There are also too many stopping points where it crosses a road. All that being said, I love seeing more folks on wheels. It is a good thing. I'm also glad to see the bike lanes and sharrows in Homewood. All positive signs.

Where are the voting options? I'm on my phone so perhaps that is why I don't see them. My vote is for fpdcc palos forest preserves centered around 95th and wolf.

Road bike... Old plank Trail hands down. If I am on my mountain bike, I would probably prefer Palos.

People coming from the east will now have to fight through school traffic at Rt. 30/Schoolhouse.Read More People from southwest New Lenox will have to either venture up Cedar, which is painfully slow... or take Spencer from Laraway, in which they will have to cross Rt. 30 to go straight. Won't be an easy picnic.
