Providence’s Travis a Powerful Bat Man
Celtic senior blasts three home runs in wins against St. Laurence and St. Rita, pushes his total to eight for season heading into weekend play.
Providence’s Sam Travis continues to swing a red hot bat. He’s especially doing it for power, and lots of it. Travis clubbed a three-run homer on Monday to help the Celtics beat St. Laurence. On Thursday, he blasted two more home runs in a 12-8 win against St. Rita.
The two homers pushed Travis' total for the season to eight. He had 32 hits heading into weekend play.
Lincoln-Way Co-Op Wins 10th Consecutive Title
Lincoln-Way had no problems on Wednesday night in the Southwest Suburban Conference boys gymnastics meet and will now turn its attention to next week’s sectional and then, in all likelihood, the state meet May 13-14 at Lincoln-Way East. Lincoln-Way Gets Acclimated to Varsity Lacrosse
The Lincoln-Way lacrosse team is playing its first varsity season this spring. The teams is made up of players from all four of the Lincoln-Way high schools.
The team has had a bit of a rude awakening at the varsity level with a 2-6 record through April 28, but the team has been competitive in most of its contests.

Victories for Lincoln-Way include a 16-4 decision against Minooka and a 12-10 victory over Lane Tech. The team has lost several close games, falling 9-6 to Homewood-Flossmoor and 10-7 to Marian Catholic, as well as dropping one-goal decisions to Lemont (6-5) and Chiefs Lacrosse (12-11 in overtime).
The team plays its games at all four of the Lincoln-Way high schools.
Lincoln-Way’s remaining home games this spring: May 2 vs. Homewood-Flossmoor at Lincoln-Way North; May 4 vs. Schaumburg at Lincoln-Way West; May 16 vs. Geneva at Lincoln-Way West; May 18 vs. St. Rita at Lincoln-Way East.
Girls Soccer: L-W Central Can’t Answer Andrew

Boys Volleyball: L-W Central Falls to Sandburg

Lincoln-Way West Wins 2nd Straight in Girls Soccer
The Lincoln-Way West girls soccer team beat Crete-Monee 1-0 on penalty kicks last Saturday in the Warrior Invite and then started strong on Wednesday in the Plainfield Invite, beating Addison Trail 3-0 thanks to goals from Kara Winans, Morgan Contreras and Katie Brncich. IHSA Changes Wrestling Weight Classes
The IHSA is changing weight classes for wrestling beginning next winter. The 103-pound class has been replaced by the 106-pound class.
