New Lenox Lightning Seniors Make College Plans
L-W Central's Walshon and L-W West's Carr are among the athletes to make commitments to play softball in college.
All of the Class of 2011 seniors from the New Lenox Lightning softball program have signed to play at the next level.
The list includes local players of interest, as Lincoln-Way Central graduate Nicole Walshon is committed to St. Ambrose and Lincoln-Way West’s Alex Carr, the first senior softball player in school history, will play at Maryville University. Also of note is Lincoln-Way East graduate Megan Butler, who will play at Olivet Nazarene.
Koziol Coming To Providence?
Ryan Koziol, a standout shortstop and pitcher at Brother Rice, may be transferring to Providence Catholic. Koziol, who has committed to the University of Arizona, could fit in nicely at shortstop, taking over for , who graduated and will be playing at Central Michigan University.

Powerlifting Providence Athletes
Athletes from Providence Catholic will be participating this weekend at the Joliet Catholic Academy Activity Center in the 29th Annual Rudy’s Gym High School Football Powerlifting Meet. It’s scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and should end at around 3 p.m.
Illinois State Disc Golf Championships
The 29th Annual Illinois Disc Golf Championships are scheduled for this weekend at Highland (Pilcher) Park in Joliet, on the New Lenox border. This course was established in 2008 and has become a local favorite in a short time with its challenging holes that feature a variety of length and elevation. Local players and players from around the country are expected to compete.
