L-W West Football Takes Care of Business in Conference Opener

Warriors get back on track with 35-6 football victory over Thornridge in Southwest Suburban Red opener.

After getting overpowered by Crete-Monee, the football team needed a confidence boost. It didn't come in the first half of Saturday's game against Thornridge in Dolton, as the Warriors found themselves in a tight contest.

It finally did arrive in the second half, as the Warriors (2-1) rode the back of Nick Dangles and went on to rout Thornridge, 35-6, in the Southwest Suburban Red opener.

Football Celtics Improve to 3-0

Last fall, the football team didn't pick up its third victory until, well, never, as the Celtics finished 2-7 overall. But that was then. This is now. Providence picked up win No. 3 of 2011 during a 49-31 victory over St. Laurence on Friday night in New Lenox. Andy Hoffmeister led the way for the Celtics, rushing for four touchdowns.

L-W Central Breaks 300 in Boys Golf

The boys golf team scored a 299 to win Saturday's Providence Invitational at The Sanctuary in New Lenox. Bryant Bolden led the way for the Knights, firing a 73. The invitational proved to be quite competitive as runner-up Loyola Academy had a 303 and Providence was third with a 305 team total.

Warriors, Celtics Start Strong in Volleyball

The Lincoln-Way West girls volleyball remained undefeated after beating Bloom, 25-16, 25-16 on Thursday night, while the Celtics improved to 6-2 with a road victory at Joliet West 25-11, 25-17.

Warriors Take 4th in Steelmen Invite         

The Lincoln-Way West girls cross country team took fourth place in Saturday's 16-team Steelmen Invite in Channahon. Natalie Waters led the way, taking fourth place with a 19:15.
