IHSA Girls Swimming: Four L-W Girls Make Splash at State Finals

Lincoln-Way West's Kaitlyn Neiheisel caps big week with second place finish in diving event. Lincoln-Way East's Sloane McDermott takes seventh in 100 back.

Kaitlyn Neiheisel capped a big week with a big performance.

Neiheisel, a Lincoln-Way West senior, splashed her way to a second-place finish in diving at the IHSA's state swimming and diving meet Saturday in Winnetka. She finished with a judge's point total of 382.15 to nab the runner-up spot behind Deerfield state champ Erin Purdy (405.95).

For Neiheisel, the second-place finish followed on the heels of her Tuesday announcement she will attend Illinois State University and compete in two sports on the college level—track and field (pole vault) and swimming (diving).
