Video Highlights: Joliet Catholic Rushes Past LW-West

The Warriors offense couldn't get it going, and Joliet Catholic scored six rushing touchdowns.

After shut down Joliet Catholic's high-powered offense (47 ppg) on the first two drives, junior Ty Isaac took control on a 67-yard burst for the game's first score.

He would score two more times as the Hillmen dominated the Warriors 48-14 in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.

West's defense was good at times but didn't get much help: A failed onside kick recovery and an offensive fumble gave the Hillmen a short field multiple times. Joliet Catholic's defense was phenomenal, especially the D-line, which held Warrior running back Nick Dangles to about 35 yards.

The game was well out of reach before West got on the scoreboard, first with a nice screen pass to senior Brad Watson, and then on a trick play that allowed quarterback Kyle Millner a wide open shot at receiver Adam Slattery for 86 yards.

Patch's MVP: Top recruit Ty Isaac, a junior running back, scored three touchdowns on 10 rushes and 131 yards. And each was different, showing patience as blocks unfolded, elusiveness with great spin moves and explosiveness, bursting through the line at one point for 67 yards.

Warriors Stat Pack: Senior quarterback Kyle Millner completed less than half his passes, but thanks to a couple big touchdowns (30 yards and 86 yards) finished with 250 yards through the air. Running back Nick Dangles only average about two yards per carry.

Hillmen Stat Pack: Joliet Catholic had six rushing touchdowns from four different players. Both Isaac and Jones averaged about 13 yards per carry. The defense only allowed the Warriors about 50 yards rushing.

Quotable: "This doesn't diminish anything about the year we had and what we accomplished. If you continue to commit yourself to life like you did to football, you'll be successful." — West coach Mark Vander Kooi, to his players after the game.

Team Records: Lincoln-Way West finishes the season 7-3. Joliet Catholic improves to 8-2.
