Lincoln-Way West to Host National 6th Annual Hour of Power for Sarcoma Research
The Girls’ Swimming and Diving teams of Lincoln-Way West, Lincoln-Way North and Lincoln-Way East will participate this Saturday, Aug. 27, in the sixth annual Hour of Power for Sarcoma Research.
This national event, hosted by Lincoln-Way West, is sponsored by Carleton College Swimming and Diving in honor of former swimmer Ted Mullin, who passed away in 2006 after a battle with sarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer.
Collegiate, high school, and club swimming programs from across the country participate in this annual philanthropic event. Proceeds raised from the teams’ continuous hour of relay swimming will benefit ongoing sarcoma research at the University of Chicago.

“In 2010, 6,979 individuals from 146 teams participated in the event. Lincoln-Way is proud to support the cause this year,” said Kristen Anderson, Head West Girls Swimming and Diving Coach.
The public is welcome to attend. Doors open at 7 a.m. After a brief address by Ted Mullins’ parents, a continuous hour of relay swimming will commence at 9 a.m. featuring mixed teams of Warriors, Phoenix, and Griffins. A breakfast social will follow.
