High School Poms Conference Championship

Lincoln-Way West High School Poms are hosting a regional TEAMDance Illinois contest on Sunday, January 16, 2011 which also serves as the SouthWest Suburban Conference Championship contest.

"Varsity teams from all four Lincoln-Way High Schools, Lincoln-Way Central, Lincoln-Way East, Lincoln-Way North and Lincoln-Way West will be represented at this contest and will compete for the conference title" stated Melissa Sweeney, sponsor of the varsity West Poms. Melissa is a mathematics teacher for West.

Other participating high schools include: Batavia, Bishop McNamara, Bradley Bourbonnais, Bremen, Carl Sandburg, Coal City, Downers Grove, Eisenhower, Joliet West, Jones College Prep, Lemont, Lockport, Minooka, Naperville Central, Oak Forest, Rich East, Rich South, Riverside-Brookfield, Romeoville and TF North.

The event will include approximately 55 performances in seven different dance categories: pom, open pom, open dance, lyrical, hip hop, kick and halftime.

The all-day event begins at 7:30 a.m. and runs to 9:00 p.m. Competitions will be in different locations of the high school, including field house, gym, and dance studio. Food and refreshments will be available for sale. Admission price is $8 for adults and $5 for students with ID. The public is welcome.
