College Signing Day: 4 Providence Football Players Make Commitments

Don Sebestyen, principal of Providence Catholic High School, highlighted the achievements of senior football players Brian Fordon, Jack Fordon, Tony Petta and Kevin Ward. They each committed to continue their football careers at the collegiate level.

“We are extremely proud of these student-athletes who are leaders among their peers and have worked hard in the classroom and on the field. We wish them the very best in college and in the future,” said Sebestyen.

Brian Fordon

Brian Fordon, son of Brian and Kristin Fordon of Frankfort, committed to continue his football career at Dartmouth College where he plans to major in Economics. 

Brian is an an honor roll student and a member of the Student Council, Augustinian Youth Ministry (AYM) and Habitat for Humanity. He is also a Eucharistic Minister.

On the football field, Brian, a linebacker, played for the Celtic football team his entire high school career and was team co-captain his senior year. He was named Defensive MVP, All-State Chicago Tribune Special Mention, All-State Academic and CCL All-Conference.  Furthermore, Brian was named the 4th rated linebacker in Illinois by scout.com and 77th overall.

 Jack Fordon

Jack Fordon, son of John and Megan Fordon of Frankfort, committed to continue his football career at the University of Nebraska where he plans to major in Biology (Pre-Dental). Jack, an honor roll student, has been a linebacker on the Celtic football team for the past three seasons and was team co-captain his senior year.  In 2011, Jack was named Chicago Sun-Times Top 100 Players and All-Area. 

 Tony Petta

Tony Petta, son of Tom and Cindy Petta of Frankfort, committed to continue his football career at Drake University where he plans to major in Health Science.  Petta is an honor roll student, an he has played safety for the Celtic football team his entire high school career. He was named All-State Academic, CCL All-Conference and 1st Team All-Area.

 Kevin Ward

Kevin Ward, son of Brian and Laurel Ward of Homer Glen, signed a formal commitment to continue his football career at the University of Iowa where he is currently undecided on his major. Ward, who is on the honor roll, is also a member of the National Honor Society. He has played free safety on the Celtic football team all four years. He was team co-captain his senior year. Ward was named All-State Academic, CCL All-Conference and 2nd Team All-Area.  Furthermore, Ward has been a member of the track team for the past four years and placed 5th at State in the 400m in 2012.
