All Three Area High School Baseball Teams Set for Stevie Challenge
Providence Catholic, Lincoln-Way Central and Lincoln-Way West get a rare opportunity to play high school baseball on a Sunday—on a professional field and for a good cause.
Providence Catholic, Lincoln-West Central and Lincoln-Way West are all scheduled—weather permitting—to participate in Sunday’s inaugural Stevie Challenge at Standard Bank Stadium in Crestwood.
Providence’s baseball team is scheduled to play Marian Catholic at 10 a.m., Lincoln-Way West will take on St. Rita at 4 p.m., and Lincoln-Way Central will finish the day of games with a 7 p.m. first pitch against Mt. Carmel.
The event is in honor of Stevie Bajenski, a former Mount Carmel student-athlete who died in 2009 as a result of complications from a heart procedure.
