What Actually Is In The Affordable Care Act?

Describes how the Affordable Care Act closes the 'Donut' hole

What follows is one of a series of facts on what is included in the Affordable Care Act. Readers can come to their own conclusions as to the value of the rule and whether the rule should or should not be part of our country’s health care system.

Medicare Drug Discounts

The Affordable Care Act includes benefits to make your Medicare prescription drug coverage (Part D) more affordable. It does this by gradually closing the gap in drug coverage known as the "Donut Hole."

What This Means for You:

Starting January 1, 2011, if you reach the coverage gap in your Medicare Part D coverage, you will automatically get a 50% discount on covered brand-name drugs. You receive the discount when you buy them at a pharmacy or order them through the mail, until you reach the catastrophic coverage

  • You will also get a 7% discount on generic drugs while in the Donut Hole.
  • You can expect additional savings on your covered brand-name and generic drugs while in the coverage gap until the gap is closed in 2020.

Status of rule: In effect as of January 1, 2011

True indeed. That is the best part, we know their plan and how they intend to carry it out. What we can do is continue to call out their lies. These people are a very small fringe portion of the population. You and I are part of the general population. Trust me, there are many more people with our point of view then there are with theirs and I think now people are starting to sit up and take notice to whats been happening these past few years.

Yes, George Soros is a very scary person to be playing such a big part in what happens to our country. He has collapsed other economies for sport. Many people don't even have any idea WHO he is. I'm not sure which way "Accuracy in Media" leans, but I found this to be an interesting article that gives a lot of insight to some of his already dastardly accomplishments: http://www.aim.org/aim-column/soros-bets-on-u-s-financial-collapse/

Hey, Mike, what you call rubbish is simply the facts of what actually is in the Affordable Care Act. I can understand your frustration in not being able to respond in any meaningful manner why closing the 'Donut" hole is a bad thing and should be repealed. And no one pays me to do this. It is a work of love. Willie C. Moore
