Romney/Bain/El Salvador

Questions who help to originally fund Bain Capital.

Ryan Grim wrote a recent article in the Huffington Post which claimed that Mitt Romney was having trouble finding investors for his private equity firm, Bain Capital. He traveled to Miami in 1984 where he met with a group of Salvadorian investors who had ties to the Salvadorian right wing death squads.

In the early 80's El Salvador passed land reform legislation that
would break up some of the landholdings of the elite and distribute
the land to landless claimants. The oligarch's response was to finance
and,in some cases, lead death squads that over a decade killed 70.000
Salvadorians. Roberto D'Aubussian was among the most prominent in
their ranks. He later formed the right wing Arena party and was the
man who ordered the assassination of Archbishop Oscar Romero.

On March 24.1980 Archbishop Romero was delivering mass and he made an
impassioned plea to the army to stop the opresssion. "You are killing
your own brothers and sisters" and ignoring the words of God "Thou
shalt not kill." Romero was silenced by a buller through the heart.

Former members of the Arena party were among those investors with ties
to the death squads that met with Romney in Miami (1984). Still today
they remain significant investors in Bain Capital.

Under DUBYA women who were impregnated by a rapist did not have the freedom to rid their womb of the unwanted fetus now they are using a magic remedy unknown until the OBAMA HEALTH CARE was made constitutional
BUTCH August 26, 2012 at 04:26 am
No government will ever be successful if the NUKE INDUSTRY - OIL-RED ARMY-ALEC and KOCH BROS lobbyists and the Cantor bagman GROVER NORQUIST are writing all the laws and holding politicians who wish to govern accountable by running a INTELLECTUAL like AKINS against them in a T PARTY primary their crime was daring to even agree with the DEMS and administration on taxes and spending cuts you sir are either a PLUTOCRAT or wannabe human from the CAYMAN ISLANDS where all 12,000 other humanoids reside in their mail box tax shelters

I would like to thank Dean for saying what I am thinking. I'm not an economist so I can't speak to our budget. What I am is a concerned citizen who listens to our President's snappy rhetoric. He was so willing to shake his finger in our faces and tell us he was going to make us better. Does anyone believe he kept that promise?
It strikes me as ironic that a month or two ago in his campaign he spent more than he took in. Looks like that is his pattern. Spend more and consequences be damned. How about the derision I hear when the Tea Party is mentioned. I have yet to read of any illegal behavior when they gather. Tea Party members don't throw bricks, break windows, illegally occupy parks and/or leave the area a shambles. In fact just the opposite is true. They leave an area cleaner than they found it. The occupiers are rock stars? You would encourage your children to hang out with them? Behave like them? I've heard our President make comment after comment about the dog on the hood of the car. Funny jokes, no big deal. However it becomes a big deal when you listen to the faux outrage over Mitt Romney joking about his birthright. So silly. I can't speak to all the data that gets spewed here. But you should know that it's important for me to listen to all sides. So I read both the Times and the Trib. I watch CNN, FOX and MSNBC. I keep hearing that they are "liars" but the only thing I notice is "sins of omission".
Sara Waters August 26, 2012 at 12:39 pm
Butch - I am not against Obama. I am trying to prove a point, the GOP main argument is their freedoms are being taken away. I want to know a single one. They complain about ObamaCare/RomneyCare, fine. Did you have to change doctors? No. Were you getting treatment that you are no longer allowed? No. Are your weapons stripped from you? No. They have no argument.

Diana, If you really want to hear both sides, and at the same time tune in to WTTW (PBS) at 6pm for the News Hour. You get, not 3 min like the networks, but 10-15 min each night on something current. Lately mostly politics. Right now there is a series about Medicare... RyanCare v Obamacare, it you will. You get to see a topic discussed between BOTH SIDES at the same time. Rightwing thinkers paint Public TV as liberal and leftist, but that is because they have never watched it. Why do you thing PBS moderates the debates? Do this for a while and you start to get a look at the big picture. I throw in some Jon Stewart & the Daily Show for some comic relief. As for Obama's promises. He just isn't God who can make things happen. There has got to be cooperation in Congress and it is hamstrung with inflexibility. Wouldn't it be nice to know what could have been with a little cooperation and not a rabid and frankly some racist Republican stonewalling. Economics are a mess but it's not just us - the whole world is suffering and that is hard to blame on Obama.
It has been "Anybody but Obama" for the past 4 years and to hell with what the country really needs. The Republicans and TP'ers are willing to grind everyone into the dirt -except the top 2% - to make this happen. (Dean, please note the quote - not my original thought).
BUTCH August 26, 2012 at 04:06 pm
Dianna absolutely right he did not rid his admin. of wall street gangsters and allowed the JEKYLL island creatures to continue their writing and or regulating the BANKING laws. he also did not privatize SSA and if the treasonous T PARTY-and alien think tanks that own Congress not allowed ALEC and the poison and pollution lobby to write what passed for laws and worked for the 100% The Twitt could have been as rich as the KOCH BROS and the MACU VICE LORD financing the wingnuts and TWIT we would not have known he pays less taxes than his dog on the roof or his vulture capitalism is very un American no matter how many stupid gaffes he makes which more often than not is deliberate political advertising.
Obama has raised the question on the REAL WELFARE QUEENS the TRILLIONS GIVEN TO BIG OIL and the runaway Corporations in RED CHINA what has lyin RYAN and the TWIT said," give them more subsidies" OB will spend 1 billion in this campaign it is the same as R-R BUT THEIR SURROGATES WILL ALSO spend 1 BILLION a lot of it to insure the JR-KIRK OBAMA and JOE WALSH Federal SOCIALIST health care will not be available to you or me or anyone on this blog!
Sara Waters August 26, 2012 at 04:14 pm
Sue - I honestly believe if there was a cure for the common cold, or cancer and Obama wanted to distribute it to the masses, Boehner would throw his usual hissy fit to block it. Just because it's what they've been doing. Congress is the problem. Everything that has not been done has been because Boehner has acted like a selfish child.
Dianna August 26, 2012 at 04:22 pm
Thank you Sue for reminding me of The News Hour. At one time I listened to it regularly. For some reason I've not watched lately. I will begin to correct that tomorrow. <g>.
When President Obama was elected he had full control of the house and senate. I hoped for good things, but they didn't happen. I don't agree that any party is willing to grind everyone into the dirt. Why must we always use talking points, like top 2% or "I did build that." ? Let's all thing for ourselves and not say anything online that we wouldn't say if we were standing across from each other in the back of church !
Dianna August 26, 2012 at 04:27 pm
Wow Butch. You may have some salient points to make, but I get lost in all the vitriol so I can't find them.
Sara Waters August 26, 2012 at 04:37 pm
Dianna - that's what the internet is for. Especially this place. The bigots-racists-haters in general get to hide behind a made up moniker to spew garbage from their fingers. Yet, if you knew it was the person who lived next door to you, you'd think very differently of them. I never knew my town had so many racist-bigots in it until the Patch came to light.
BUTCH August 26, 2012 at 04:42 pm
Sara i was attempting to point out the same thing as you and did a bad job the thing about the MEDIA they are doing what they do best that's why Glenn BECK and toe suckers on FOX do not report the recklessness of the banksters and the monetary policy that has left abandoned houses no one has a clue who own the properties and 0% interest rates the MACAU vice lord will end up with all the titles and become a member of the WORST CARTEL on the planet the FED, the most underrated unindicted gangster on the Planet the devious PHIL GRAMM and his Treasury official wife that opened the door for the crash bubbles and printing of TRILLIONS of paper money to bail out criminals and government bonds which cost us more Trillions in lost jobs-pensions etc for BAIN ASSOC to fleece none of the current pol's and noone on this blog except DEAN maybe understand since he is a surrogate of sorts more than a budget wonk,
Dianna as far as the occupy movement as dirty and seemingly unkempt they appear I would be proud if any of my children would risk what they do to bring attention to the JEKYLL island creatures and loss of FREEDOM we have given the PLUTOCRATS and OLIGARCH surrogates what passes for honest politicians or leaders religious included since 911 you notice that was the only question the budget wonk on this blog asked me?
Stuart Kurtz August 26, 2012 at 04:46 pm
Dean, let's take a look at real federal budget numbers from taxpolicycenter.org. I'm working in nominal rather than constant dollars, for simplicity. If we look at the seven budget years from 2001 through 2008 (i.e., not considering the difficult 2009 budget), federal spending grew at an annualized rate of 6.95%/year. If we apply this growth rate to 2008 expenditures, we get a nominal budget of $3,189.9B for 2009 expenditures, vs. the actual expenditures of $3,517.7B, a difference of $327.8B.
The difference is presumably several factors. The Bush-Paulsen Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) authorized the Treasury to borrow up to $700B. In mid-October 2008, Paulsen used $245B of this authorization to recapitalize the banking sector through the purchase of preferred stock. This accounts for all but $82.8B of the 2009 expenditures. This is broadly consistent with the $185B wiki claims that ARRA added to the deficit in 2009, keeping in mind that tax cuts constituted more than a third of ARRA, and that they were somewhat front-end loaded. Your claim that ARRA involved an $800B Treasury float fully booked in 2009 cannot be reconciled with the actual history of federal expenditures.

Isn't that a little old & so overused. Go hug a tree & buy Sandra Fluke lunch,
you'll think you really did something good. Enough with the race crap. There are incompetent Caucasian & African American politicians. I don't see color, just incompetence & arrogance.
BUTCH August 26, 2012 at 06:49 pm
VICKY SORRY but the trees are also being victimized by the "people are Corporations" who do not receive enough subsidies according Lyin and Twit the last two tree epidemics were because of Chinese elm and ash eating bugs that arrived in the made in China wooden boxes it was bad enough when it was our toothpaste and dog food and kids toys now the ECOSYSTEM
I lost three ASH trees myself, I would rather have lunch with fatty Arbuckle Rush without the OXY desert. I'm shocked also SARA did not know there were so many haters in our gated community.
vicky August 26, 2012 at 07:16 pm
Butch, you libs love to ramble on & on about nothing.
By the way, I'd love to have lunch with Rush, Sandra Fluke could just keep on being used as a pawn by the Obama campaign.
Sara Waters August 26, 2012 at 07:21 pm
Vicky - have you read some of the posts that have been on this site. There have been many that spew hatred regarding race and bigotry. If you can't see that, then I can't help you. I will go hug a tree and proudly. Do you know what impact the trees have on the planet? I guess not, since you think hugging one is a bad thing. What the hell does Sandra Fluke have to do with Race and Bigotry? I said nothing of her. I often secretly pay for people's lunch in restaurants all the time. I suggest you do it. It's a good feeling to make someone's day.
vicky August 26, 2012 at 07:36 pm
Sara,
I don't need your help nor do I want it. Go out there & save the world. Once again, what I see in Obama is complete opposite of where I want my country to be heading & I didn't say Sandra Fluke had anything to do with race & bigotry. You missed my point, so forget it. I hope you find your perfect world out there......
Sara Waters August 26, 2012 at 08:55 pm
Vicky - I don't believe in a perfect world. It's crazy if you do. But I do believe that hurricanes, tornadoes and earthquakes are Science, not divine intervention due to gay people & legal abortion.
I guess with Romney/Ryan you want the country to be that the middle class will now live at poverty since they will be taxed so much more while the top 2% take a $160k tax break? I have the same freedoms I had before Obama was President as I do since he's been in office. In fact, my medical is better, since my Insurance cannot drop me if I get a terminal disease and is forced to cover any pre-existing conditions. Yep, those are horrible things. Horrible.
BUTCH August 26, 2012 at 08:58 pm
Vicky I am not happy with a WANNABE Pres of MURKA paying homage to the ZIONIST leader because of the debt he owes to A ZIONIST Vice Lord and they are all pretending along with AIPAC t he will attack the KHARG OIL platforms of the Cheney family -Helliburton and we are paying $4 a gal now for gas it is never enough, yep I don't think we should go in that direction nor do I like the energy policy of TWIT who will insure there are no trees everything will look like SALT LAKE or the Sea of GALILEE, YEP i RAMBLE ABOUT CORPORATE CRIME and things like that which u think is nothing so do the R-R unindicted criminals I also wonder how A MULTI MILLION DOLLAR robber who pleaded guilty to MEDICARE FRAUD can be elected to HIGH office and host a NAT'L political convention which is happening in FLORIDA. I DON'T LIKE THAT DIRECTION but it must be easier for the FED'S to keep an eye on so many criminals meeting in the same place.
russ harrison August 26, 2012 at 11:33 pm
Actually Genvieve, Romney did work with Bain to secure start up capital, almost 40% in fact, from Central America. They rolled those investments several times. Romney himself introduced a right wing death squad financier as one of his best investors.
Dianna August 27, 2012 at 12:04 am
This discussion has deteriorated into something best left to children, it's a kind of "your mama wears army boots" sort of debate that will never go anywhere. I'm sorry for that, because this could be a good avenue for adult discussion.
Chronicles of Bob August 27, 2012 at 12:45 am
Probably because butch sounds like ivent.... if it looks like a duck and it sounds like a duck...
vicky August 27, 2012 at 12:52 am
You can't debate with people who say you're a racist or bigot just because
you don't share their political views. They always resort to that. Look at some of their comments. I hope Obama's new health care law allows them to seek a qualified mental health professional.
vicky August 27, 2012 at 01:10 am
They are two very odd ducks!!
CRAZY!!
Billable Hours August 27, 2012 at 01:47 am
Oh quack!
BUTCH August 27, 2012 at 02:24 am
has Butch said something to offend the OSTRICHES again? better a DUCK than a Ostrich quack-quack how original.
BILLABLE HOURS SOUNDS LIKE A CORPORATE CRIME itself what is it VICKY WANTS TO DEBATE THE OXY KING boss of THE t party congress would be a starter.
Sue Bertram August 27, 2012 at 04:13 am
I think I am going to bow out of this one. My inbox is exploding. I do so appreciate the sane comments and the incredible grasp some have of the issues. Especially from those who put real names to their thoughts. If you say it, own it. My greatest fear is that our fate as a nation and our future as a democracy is being controlled by a man no one have ever voted for or elected. The Pledge and Grover Norquist, with his strangle hold on virtually every Republican in Congress, is what the real threat is. Combine that with billions of dollars from phantom contributors and an electorate that is educated by sound bites and The People haven't got a chance
vicky August 27, 2012 at 09:39 am
You don't offend me at all. Your bizarre comments only reinforce once again
why I'm proud of what I stand for & so happy you're not on our side. You're very Nancy Pelosi like.................
BUTCH August 27, 2012 at 12:46 pm
Vicki i am on the side of the Angels your side has the blood of Maryknoll nuns, Archbishop Ronero and Cardinal Dolan who pays &20,000 per predator to shut them up ,if the Lord approves u may see Dolan at the end of the BCVL (BANKSTERS-CRIMINALS VICE LORDS) CONVENTION in Tampa, if my comments seem bizarre, I prefer to believe i speak facts and the truth it may seem BIZARRE if your head is in the sand on the most important issues we face today and there are millions of you as we know.I only wish there were more ducks whatever that means if it offends the people that allow the GROVERS, Macau VICE LORDS and ARENA Party murderers a seat at the WHITE HOUSE and all government.

People coming from the east will now have to fight through school traffic at Rt. 30/Schoolhouse.Read More People from southwest New Lenox will have to either venture up Cedar, which is painfully slow... or take Spencer from Laraway, in which they will have to cross Rt. 30 to go straight. Won't be an easy picnic.
