According to the American Diabetes Association, it is vital to follow a healthy lifestyle by choosing healthy foods, making wholesome meals, and being active 30 minutes a day.

But constantly implementing all these steps can be overwhelming to live healthier. However, the good news is that following a few steps can have a huge impact on your health.

“Diabetics need to know a lot of support is available to help them, so they can continue to stay healthy as they manage their diabetes,” Ramaraja said. “Area residents can find help from their physician, as well as, through the Silver Cross Diabetes Center where specially trained nurses and dietitians work closely with patients and their physicians to develop a personalized program teaching participants the self-management skills necessary to stay healthy and in control of their blood sugar levels.”
