So The Supreme Court upheld Obamacare for the masses. Do I believe in Obamacare? The jury's still out on that. But I can tell you that if you think health care doesn't need an overhaul...you're barking up the wrong tree.
Everyday I deal with patients at different hospitals. I've seen people who truly need help with health care. People out of work, elderly that only have medicare and really can't afford to pay any remaining bills medicare won't cover. I've also seen people drive up in a Mercedes Benz and then present a Medicaid card for their health care needs. They are dress to the nines complete with jewelery I only wish I could afford to give to my wife. But the majority of people without insurance are in that boat due to the companies in America cutting out health insurance for their employees to improve their bottom line and make the CEO look good to the board of directors and the stock holders. The cut peoples hours to just below full time so they don't have to pay for the benefits or they just don't offer them at all. The company has record profit margins but the rest of the citizens of the U.S. are paying for that companies health care costs.
Health care is expensive. We all want state of the art machines and highly qualified people to make us better when we're sick. The days of paying your doctor in chickens are long gone. The cost of a new MRI machine is about 3 million dollars. That doesn't include paying for the highly skilled technologist who runs it. The ultrasound machine I use is about 250,000 dollars. We all want the best care, but know one wants to pay for it. We somehow need to bring costs down or change the way we pay the providers of health care so we can still get the best medical care in the world. Is Obamacare it? I think it will be years before we find out.

Until then I have to say I give credit to anyone who is at least trying to make things better or at least trying to change things in a system that is failing. You may not allow yourself to give this a chance because of your political views (which is a major problem in this country right now) but I say we won't know if it will work until it's implimented. If it works, great. If it doesn't then we'll have to start over with a new plan.
I know this is really making the right wing supporters mad. But remember, not everything George Bush did worked out well. This may not work out for Obama, but we'll have to give it time to make that decision. The Supreme Court seems to want to give it a try, so why can't we?
