Sports

I'm amazed at the amount of channels on TV that are dedicated only to sports. Don't get me wrong, I love sports. Well, most sports. I have a hard time getting into things like tennis and Nascar but to eaches own. I have a hard time watching Nascar because of my unnatural fear of left turns. It goes deep down in my soul. It started when I had to pull out on route 30 to make a left turn out of the bank. It's like playing Russian roulette. Especially during rush hour. You just never know if you're going to make it. Nothing like being hit by a semi broadside. It will definitely make you spill your coffee.

As for tennis the athletes are very talented. I just can't sit there and watch a match. It makes my neck hurt. I shouldn't be getting a work out while watching tennis. Maybe getting one by playing with I understand. Besides, I look funny in the little tennis skirt and tight shirt.

My sport is still hockey. Although this year was a disaster for the Blackhawks, I still enjoy watching a good hockey game on TV. I was a hockey player in High School and played a little in college, but I must say I'm paying for it now. Every joint in my body is reliving ever hit I received during those years. I also played a little football but my career ended when I threw my helmet at my coach and walked off the field. Sometimes you just get to the point where you can't listen to an idiot anymore.

I enjoy golf now but I can't watch it on TV. Why do the announcers whisper? There not that close to the players, are they? My golf game involves two main components. I can hit the ball far, I just don't know where it's going. The tree's are close friends of mine on the golf course. I can identify most species because I'm always so close to them. I can also find most of the sand traps around the green. What can I say, it's a gift.

My final comment is on baseball. I loved playing it as a kid, and I loved coaching it. But as for watching it on TV, it's like watching paint dry. Not very exciting. I will watch the highlights though, it condenses 3 hours into 3 minutes. Talk about time conservation. That's when ESPN comes in handy.

ESPN also provides one of the best highlight segments called the "Not so top ten". It's when they show the most ridicuoulus moments in sports that week. It's worth watching just for the laughs. There "Top Ten" of the week is also a great segment, showing the best athletic plays of the week.

Now that I'm older, watching most sports is all I got. I can still get in a round of golf, but that's pretty much my limit. Just remember if you see me on one of the local golf courses, be wary. Like I said before, I have know idea where the ball is going.
